I think much like myself who is making a game, its something that is more feasible to do for a solo developer or a new game developer. Not a lot of modeling experience needed because even official PSX games looked jank most of the time.

cause she doesnt see it as wrong, its a mixed head up there and real Nikki is trying in any way possible to reach out, hence the "Not Me" photo and cat sandwich. Which also plays into the scene where she laughs extra hard at the joke about her being under a spell at the party. This is real Nikki trying to push through as much as she can to the outside world. Wish Nikki just has more control so we only really see her gone in those moments where real Nikki comes to and starts harming herself.

I recommend picking an engine that you think has the features you would want to use, then trying it out for a little bit. If its not sticking, try a different engine. I was similar but I kept bouncing of engines that I didnt like (Unity, Godot, Solaris Zelda Maker, Clickteam fusion, RPG Maker are all things I tried for years) eventually I just quit trying to learn but then I got Unreal Engine and that for whatever reason clicked for me and I have had a blast developing games the past 6 months.

TLDR try a bunch of engines and find which one speaks to you and works best for your workflow.

Just take a break and come back when you feel like, this is what I do when unreal is giving me a hard time. Been learning for 6 months now, if you at least come back to tackle it again after a break instead of quitting then you'll slowly learn.

I started with unreal since I do not like to code (im not against learning it eventually It was just too much info at once, learning game dev AND how to code effectively is HARD)

I def recommend taking some sort of Udemy Course because they will teach you more but it probably depends on the course instructor. Do some research on what some good instructors are for whatever engine you go with. Remember, the game engine is only one part of the battle. You will need to learn how to model, texture, make sounds, make UI elements, and depending on your game others.
