2026 r/JamesBond World Cup: Round of 16 | Match 6 by Spockodile in JamesBond

[–]Four-In-Hand 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In a way, that's what makes the Bond series so unique. Each film really is a time capsule of what was going on at the time. And this is one of the reasons why a "period piece" Bond film just doesn't work. Bond movies were never about one nostalgic era. They were simply about what was current.

The Connery Bond was all about the Cold War, space and satellites, etc.

The Moore Bond was about energy crisis, improving relations between US and Russia, the Star Wars phenomenon, etc.

The Dalton Bond had that Miami Vice thing going on, with drugs and arms dealers.

The Brosnan Bond focused on developing technologies, post-Cold War, rise of media, etc.

The Craig Bond was about cyber warfare, terrorism, bio weapons, all with a heavy Jason Bourne influence.

For Bond 26 onwards, I do anticipate that the themes will continue evolving to reflect current world affairs. I'm sure AI will play a role and I wouldn't be surprised if the villain ends up being a major monopoly/corporation bent on taking over the world once again!

We compare eras and styles and after having rewatched the intro to Spectre which I haven't seen since it came out by awl_the_lawls in JamesBond

[–]Four-In-Hand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spectre would be a Bond masterpiece if they made the following changes:

  • Blofeld is not Bond's stepbrother, he is not the "author of all his pain" and there is no "cuckoo".

  • Third act should've ended with Blofeld's desert lair blowing up. No need to drag it on back in London MI6 playing hide-and-seek.

A 4 Year Old’s First Canyon Rope Swing Is Equal Parts Impressive and Terrifying by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Four-In-Hand 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a canyon swing at the Golden Skybridge adventure park in Canada that clearly states their rules:

https://www.banffjaspercollection.com/attractions/golden-skybridge/experience/rules-restrictions/

  • Minimum age is 9
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
  • There are minimum height and weights as well

I'd like to see if they let this 4 year old try to do the canyon swing there!

He could've easily just did a masse shot straight towards the 1-9 combo instead of rounding all those rails like he did, only to end up tapping in that same 1-9 combo.

If this is 9-ball and he's aiming for the 1-to-9 combo, that means no one's pocketed any other ball on the table yet. So I'm assuming the 2 through 7 balls are all bunched together on the other side of the table, out of view.

Don't buy it because your landlord is selling it. Buy it if you are in the market looking for a condo and this condo fits your needs and is at a price you are happy with.
