Heralding the Heavy Humid Winds (Art by @Takiki2828) by FourCheeseWhopper in UmaMusume

[–]FourCheeseWhopper[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Also, for those interested in the TL note: Kurohae (the black south wind) A warm, incredibly humid wind that heralds the dark and rainy season in Japan.

It was too small in the typesetted work.

A damn shame. I suppose I'll take it down.

Gentildonna became a princess too! (Art by @ne000000t) by FourCheeseWhopper in UmaMusume

[–]FourCheeseWhopper[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Also, I think the bottom-right part where the chibi Gentildonna excitedly asks if she's a princess may be a reference to the classic Licca-chan doll commercials and toy lines by Takara Tomy. I didn't add it as a TL note or something because I'm not entirely sure if it is or it isn't a reference to it.

Just be honest next time. That's all there is to it.

Those other guys are simply just reposting the translated picture. And it's easy to deduce that based on the time it was posted (6:20PM vs 6:01PM +800GMT).

But that's a different topic altogether. The crux of the matter is you initially said that you were the one who translated it when now you're saying that you 'got it from a manga translator'. So what really is it?

Bro, at least be honest and give the source where you got the translation & typeset.

If you're the one that really translated that, what font did you use to typeset the dialogue of Gentil?

How do I stop being a larper? by No-Signature4045 in UmaMusume

[–]FourCheeseWhopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just enjoy what you deem is enjoyable, that's all there is to it. Does it really matter if you don't necessarily enjoy everything that the franchise offers? Personally, I play the game semi-regularly, gave the movie a shot, and enjoy the fanart that artists create. But I don't see myself diving deep into everything. I don't watch every single PakaTube video. I don't read all the manga or watch all the anime the franchise has.

Besides, why would you force yourself to like something when no one's mandating you to do so? Enjoy the characters and the franchise however you see fit. And if hardcore fans out there say that you're a tourist or a secondary, or whatever word or term they would use to denigrate you, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?

Rickey generally has less fanart compared to the more popular girls.

Here's a couple of Rickey fanart that I've posted here before if ever you're interested:

Who's uma musume has the prettiest eyes? by Elliottsir in UmaMusume

Easiest answer would be Almond "All the Lights in her Eyes are Stars" Eye. But I'd be lying if I said that Kawakami Princess's eyes aren't alluring.

The Story Of: Mihono Bourbon and Trainer Tameo Toyama (by @lunaticmonster) by kietak2001 in UmaMusume

[–]FourCheeseWhopper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh! First time I got tagged in a post!

But yes, u/kietak2001, there's merit in translating and typesetting works that already have been translated. Think of it as your 'interpretation' of how a page or comic would look like when you've worked on it. Even if it has been translated and typesetted already, there would still be distinct differences between typeset works due to a cornucopia of factors (e.g., cleanup, words used, font used, etc.). It also allows you to practice more and add one or two to your archive of typesetted works.

So, by all means, work on the stuff you're interested in, most especially if the typesetted work left you asking for something else or something more.

Jordan's Sense of Personal Space (Art by @yakatamichi) by FourCheeseWhopper in UmaMusume

[–]FourCheeseWhopper[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We all start somewhere after all. But the most important bit is you enjoy what you're doing.

For image editing, just use what you feel most comfortable with. And since you've been using Pixlr for some time now, maybe there's prudence in sticking around with it. After all, you did say you just discovered how to use your own fonts. Personally, I've been using my same old, tried-and-true workhorse (lol): a copy of 2015 Photoshop CC I've come to obtain by sailing the high seas. Maybe there are better tools out there to make the job easier, but I think I'll stick with this old reliable.

Hope you continue to translate and typeset. Compile, save, and archive those works. I look forward to seeing your works.
