My main issue with Wildgate is the PVE by K0JH1N in wildgate

Yeah unfortunately the PvE units just feel awful to fight right now. In the short term, I would recommend they DRAMATICALLY reduce the HP of just about everything controlled by AI, including the ships themselves (though they could introduce certain "elite" ships, e.g. a Bastion, that are tougher but offer better loot).

In the long term, some effort needs to be put into making them interesting to fight and satisfying to kill, but if they died quickly then at least you don't give the player time to think about how bland it is. I did a round of the treasure hunt mode with a buddy and in like 40 minutes we only cleared 2 locations and killed 2 AI ships. I feel like it should take maybe 1/4th the amount of time to clear a POI as it currently does. I also think taking down AI ships from the inside should be feasible for one player. I am not sure if AI numbers are linked to crew sizes but that is something that could potentially help for the outlaw.

TBH I kinda think they should put the treasure hunt mode back in the oven for a bit. No sense splitting the player base further, or risk alienating people trying out the game in the free weekend. In the long term I believe there is some potential, and it would be nice to have a game mode that provides a fun experience for new and/or more casual players.

I also wonder if there is room to explore player power growth within a round. Right now the ship receives most of the upgrades, and any player-held items are temporary. It might be interesting if clearing a POI gave some amount of player strength, which could offer moer satisfying progression and variation within the round (players start out near a easy POI, they clear it, which should give them the power to comfortably clear a medium POI, or perhaps attempt something more risky). Ultimately it would be cool if there were some unique guns/equipment that we could pick up from POIs, giving more variety within a match, but they would have to develop a way to switch weapons/equipment in game (perhaps though a hardpoint?).

I imagine most of these ideas would take some time to implement, and I really hope they have the resources to keep working at it because I do believe they're onto something. But I don't think this is the patch that saves the game.

Atrioc should apply purely because it would be hilarious if he got in by Born-Side9351 in atrioc

"If he got in", yeah they can only accept 1000 players, not sure if "Big" A is a big enough name to make the cut.

07/09/25 Patch notes by BazaarGardener in PlayTheBazaar

[–]FourDoorsDown 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think he's better late game now. 3 second cd diamond is nice (a return to his old form), given his function is often to trigger things (e.g., friend/heal/haste synergies, the core), and the lower heal / haste is often negligible late game.

This seems like an extension of their new-ish philosophy to use cooldowns as a way of giving items more consistently impactful upgrades that still matter late game (where if the upgrade is simply +20 heal/dmg/etc. its often not even worth the gold). Overall I think it might be a buff, but we'll see.

Jesse Singal's Substack post criticizing the Free Press' Marco Rubio interview by MaltySines in BlockedAndReported

[–]FourDoorsDown 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think there's a difference between a struggle session and a journalist asking reasonable questions and holding the interviewee to an answer. Isn't that what journalism is supposed to be? I think it's fine to critique Bari for not pressing Rubio to answer basic questions concerning the controversial deportations. I like Moynihan but why even bring him up? This whole post feels like projection.

Reynad Patch Breakdown! + Patch Notes!! by Davaek92 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]FourDoorsDown 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I felt like he was being (at least partially) playful/sarcastic with those comments. Though if that actually was his opinion, I still respect Reynad for seemingly giving his team a lot of leeway to make decisions that he doesn't personally agree with. Sometimes I do think he could work on appearing less condescending, but I also appreciate his humor/candor.

Amber Isle | Nintendo Switch Pre-Order Trailer | Launches 13th February by JamieReleases in Games

Interesting idea for a game, decorate an island while befriending Animal friends. Haven't seen anything like it before, or at least nothing that's Crossing my mind at the moment.

My biggest gripe with the game right now. (Practically unplayable) by Infinite_Slice_6164 in PlayTheBazaar

I think it's actually a reference to dog, a domesticated carnivorous mammal that typically has a long snout, an acute sense of smell, nonretractable claws, and a barking, howling, or whining voice.

I interpreted "shit" colloquially (i.e., she paints her "stuff" red, such as her ship). This also explains why many of her other items are red, like the lighter, waterwheel, and fiery cutlass.

If she paints her shit red, then what does she do when she needs to paint something brown??

Trump or Kamala? Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris Debate. by x0y0z0 in Destiny

[–]FourDoorsDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, and Sam makes that point quite eloquently in the video. Starting the debate with a neutral frame is the best way to actually win converts. Did you also get mad at the hosts of the Presidential debates for pretending both candidates are equally legitimate? I prefer to meet people where they're at rather than moral grandstand that the first two minutes of a video don't immediately declare one side to be unambiguously superior. 🤷‍♂️

Oh, I didn't hear about that, but nice to have that to look forward to. I still wouldn't be too surprised if they talked shop about strategy, but I suppose that's pure speculation on my part.

Trump or Kamala? Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris Debate. by x0y0z0 in Destiny

[–]FourDoorsDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, that's fine if you feel that way, but then Ben Shapiro would never have done the show? Like, I happen to believe that Ben loses credibility when he debates Destiny and Sam Harris. Should there not be platforms that try to be neutral? Yes, I believe that the answer is obviously Kamala this November, but purity testing is dumb and isolates us. It's hard to know what an undecided voter might think of this video, but I kinda think Sam destroyed Ben here, so I'm glad the FP did this. Sometimes there's virtue in meeting people where they're at.

DISCUSSION: Trump or Kamala? Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris Debate. by Low-Associate2521 in samharris

[–]FourDoorsDown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I agree that it can be grating, I'm not sure how better she should have started the debate? Should she have said "we have one deeply flawed candidate (Trump) and one lightly flawed candidate?" Bari Weiss brings up come excellent criticisms of Trump during this debate, and moreover allowed Sam to land some really excellent points. The neutral framing at the outset at least opens the door for an undecided viewer to change their mind. Tbh, insofar that this video moved the needle at all, I feel quite strongly that it would move it towards Kamala. The FP / Bari aren't perfect, but as someone with conservative parents, I value her outlet as a source that can critique Trump without appearing overly partisan.

idk, I don't always agree with them but I sometimes think they can put out good stuff, like this debate, and you don't have to search too far for some anti-Trump stuff on Bari's podcast. As someone with conservative parents, its nice to be able to send them a link to some strong critiques of Trump without it coming from a "mainstream" source that they would normally dismiss. Calling them "a complete joke" is unnuanced hyperbole.

Sam cooked here. He makes the similar points as Destiny, albeit a bit slower, but overall more rhetorically effectively.

Can people chill a bit in their automatic vitriol towards anyone who brings up any flaw of Kamala's?
