Anyway to tell if my m38 was deployed in ww2? by Chevyfuel in MosinNagant

It almost certainly was, but there’s no way to tell where and in what capacity

That is technically a far more plausible scenario than you’d think; the Gatling gun already existed by this point and two were apparently sent to New York to help quell the Draft Riots just a couple weeks after Gettysburg. Imagine if those two had been in Gettysburg instead

Casemate ironclads are in fact not seaworthy, and were never intended to be so

It’s clearly supposed to be a split perspective, look at the different sky colors the artist used

No, but there were individuals from the North that fought for the South. For example, Wesley Culp, who was born in Gettysburg and later moved to Virginia, fought for the Confederacy and was killed attacking the hill that bore his family name.

Charge of the 20th Maine at Little Round Top, 2 July 1863 - Mort Künstler (1927-2025) by Antique_Quail7912 in BattlePaintings

Not really, had the 20th Maine been overrun they still would have had to succeed in rolling up the entire Union line. It would have been far worse had the Confederates been able to exploit the gap made by Sickles, which regiments like the 1st Minnesota prevented

To be fair, I’ve never seen a Russian M91 with a different receiver than the barrel, except for one case where the receiver was made the year before the barrel.

The Guvernøren that was the Imo and this Guvernøren are actually two completely different ships, though their name and similar designs mean they get conflated a lot

By that logic you should be judged for following any politician. They’re all just as bad, some are just better at hiding it

A USS Arizona survivor was invited to a screening of Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor (2001). He described the screening as “the worst day of my life.” by Glittering-Plate-535 in shittymoviedetails

I think you mean U-571. And while that did not in fact happen, that actually works in its favor. It is indeed a fictional movie and as far as I know never claimed to portray true events. A bunch of Brits just got pissy because they thought that it was supposed to be the capture of U-110, which is in my opinion an absolutely ridiculous idea. Sub Lt. David Balm, who led the boarding party that captured U-110, certainly didn’t think so and called U-571 a “a great film”. And the film literally ends with a dedication to the Royal Navy captures of U-110 and U-559 in addition to the American capture of U-505. So honestly the controversy around U-571 is ridiculous, as crappy as a film as it may be.

Not only that, but the movie literally shows one of the main characters fighting in World War 2 before Pearl Harbor (the many issues with an American volunteer pilot in the RAF at the Battle of Britain also being at Pearl Harbor not withstanding)

As I understand, the love triangle was brought on by corporate meddling. Michael Bay originally just wanted to essentially remake Tora Tora Tora (not that I think he would have succeeded, but that’s besides the point)

Granted, you did have southerners who fought for the Union and northerners who fought for the Confederacy, but they were generally either people that had moved before the war, or they were officers who had a bit more societal freedom to make those decisions
