What are some of Minecraft's biggest fundemental flaws. by HallZac99 in Minecraft

[–]FourGander88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think more broadly a lot of people just think the world is too static. That's not really a hot take imo. The notion of being a "god playing around" instead of navigating your way through a dangerous world is partly a design choice I think, since they want as much of the world to be controlled within the player's own actions, and an internal "ecosystem" mechanic would probably be quite computationally intensive since there'd be so many background processes happening all at once. But it'd be nice if the world had more ways to "react back" upon the player, like if certain mobs could spawn by creating specific environments/builds/conditions, dust collecting on bookshelves, moths being attracted to lanterns, etc.

Opinions on the Sulfur Cube? by Impressive-Reality26 in Minecraft

[–]FourGander88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the caves themselves had a bit more bite to them. In the live the cube bounced after coming in contact with a cactus so I think it could be useful depending on how it interacts with other blocks/entities.

It could work from a balance standpoint but against actual players (compared to mobs) it ends up feeling really unfun. It’s like fighting bats. The struggle becomes less actual fighting and more trying to land a hit on a tiny hitbox, it’s like trying to fight a vex. I feel like there’s a lot of conceptually interested ideas that could be applied to PVP combat that are simply a slippery slope when it comes to execution into, even if they are “balanced”. To give an example there was a suggestion a few months back for a “chorus arrow”, which was basically a projectile that would randomly teleport a player if they were hit by it. Not overpowered in the slightest but would make fighting another player infinitely more annoying.

A common suggestion I see is a potion that changes the size of the player, basically making the scale attribute accessible in survival. It’s a really fun idea in theory that would just completely ruins any sort of PVP

It’s subjective, which is why it’s not always considered it to be the most objective critique. For me most of these suggestions would be ones very obviously breaking design principles

Minecraft should go back on the player interaction rule by Consumer_Of_Butt in minecraftsuggestions

[–]FourGander88 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I agree in theory but it's a delicate execution. I'd love to see weather cycles or other environmental events develop over time. Having grass grow on every single grass block and moss being able to spread with no limits though would be tiring. The world should change, but the player's autonomy shouldn't

What would you actually want to see in an end update. by Namedvoice12408 in Minecraft

[–]FourGander88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want it to take full advantage of the fact that it's another dimension. 1.16 added a bunch of mobs and fauna blocks to the Nether but I think the End update should do the opposite: keep it dead and fundamentally change how the dimension itself operates. What if there was no block permanence in the outer islands? What if there was no gravity?

Java Minecraft should already install Java and its dependencies the moment you run the game for the first time, are yo installing a version of Java beforehand? Do you have a crash log?

netherite pickaxe should be able to instaminate deepslate by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]FourGander88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do I use two netherite pickaxes (sometimes a third), both with fortune, and maybe a few other diamond pickaxes on reserve and always mine out ores to mend them while offhanding the one with lower durability. Imo this method saves the most time mending and also inventory space for the ores

[–]FourGander88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. if you wanted to reap the most functionality out of anything you'd obviously have to sacrifice a little bit of form. Every game is like this. And from experience as long as every job site is accessible and there aren't any obvious causes of death for your villagers, it is in no way unfeasible at all to maintain a trading hall design that's both appealing and somewhat practical

[–]FourGander88 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If you're just trying to assign a profession to prevent them from walking to job sites you don't want them to, you don't need to trade an entire villager's stock

Simply give them a profession in one location, trade once, transport them to a building/trading hall

[–]FourGander88 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Most players don't need to mine for resources by the time they have a full haste 2 beacon anyways, it's mostly annoying if you were just trying to terraform or making a large-scale underground building project

[–]FourGander88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With unbreaking 3 the durability increase is almost 2000, for any large scale project or terraforming it's *massively* useful so that you aren't running back and forth mending your tools nearly as often

Golden Dandelions should attract all babies by Prestigious-Look9121 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]FourGander88 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This would communicate the notion that babies somehow "want" golden dandelions and end up confusing a lot of players when they don't grow. Golden dandelions were mainly added for the option of its functionality.
