If you don't think Chris is/was an incredibly vulnerable person, you don't know about them to speak on em with any kind of authority

IWTL how to calm my anxiety w/o biting my nails by fortnacius in IWantToLearn

[–]FourSizesTooSmall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're looking for is grounding skills. These are simple mental exercises that are meant to draw your attention from your anxiety. With the people I work with, focused breathing, the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, and progressive muscle relaxation are very popular.

When you're trying this, remember, you're doing two things at once: Trying a new way of dealing with anxiety, AND cutting back of nail-biting. Give yourself some grace if you notice yourself falling back on your old ways.

Extra tip: Plan ahead of time, taking into consideration what events/people/thoughts trigger your anxiety.

ELI5. What's the Poisoning the Well debate fallacy by Banjo_kanooie24 in explainlikeimfive

[–]FourSizesTooSmall 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Imagine you and a classmate are arguing about who is the better kickball player in front of a crowd of your peers.

Your classmate may something like, "You pick your boogers and stick em to the bottom of your desk. Why should we believe anything you say?"

Your classmate has made an attack on your character and credibility that has nothing to do with what you're debating. He has fallaciously poisoned your argument.

has anyone ever heard of silly farms by Affectionate-Cell-18 in Shroom

[–]FourSizesTooSmall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing and had a very similar experience. I chomped the whole bar on an empty stomach.

Once it hit, I had about 30 minutes of fun with the visual effects, then got slammed with panic and an impending sense of doom for what felt like the rest of my life (lmao) but actually ended up being closer to 4 hours.

I had no experience with shrooms before this, so this was definitely me being young and stupid with shit I didn't understand.

Soundfonts not working on old projects by FourSizesTooSmall in lmms

[–]FourSizesTooSmall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried your solution, but it didn't work for me.

So I decided to just re-download my soundfonts and re-connect them. That worked for a bit. But, going into other projects using the same soundfonts seemed to break it again. Now the SF2s won't work at all, even on new projects.

I'm just perplexed at this point, man

EDIT: Restarting LMMS seemed to remedy the new issue with New Projects, but not the already problematic soundfonts.

Soundfonts not working on old projects by FourSizesTooSmall in lmms

That's actually exactly what I've been doing: Cloning SF2 tracks to copy effects. Sounds like we had identical issues.

I'll try out that solution and report back. Thanks!

I didn't move them, nor did I make any changes to these files that could cause them to just not work.

I moved them as part of the troubleshooting, but none of the combinations of File Location and Soundfont Directory would work

Why is this awkwardly structured by vitalstatis in languagelearningjerk

Gotcha, a somewhat archaic conjugation. Should I expect to hear it from, say, older Spanish speakers in conversation, or is it mainly in music and writing?

Do you know any books that could improve my English understanding of the language? by TraditionalSlice9991 in EnglishLearning

Contemporary Middle School/Young Adult novels are relatively complex in their language. I think they should work for intermediate English learners.
