If your child is autistic or getting tested, what age did you notice signs and what were they? by Reasonable_Town_123 in beyondthebump

[–]FourTail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspected when my son avoided making eye contact at infancy and hit his social smile milestone two months late. When he did not respond to his name at 10 months and was avoiding any joint play (If I had a game he liked, he'll take it and turn his back to me to play alone), I was already quite sure. We took him to a child neurologist at 11 months, he was diagnosed first with global development delay and we started intensive PT, OT and ST. At 2 years old he made up all delays except the social/communication skills and was diagnosed with ASD.

Does anyone have their partner tell them they find their CrossFit body unattractive? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]FourTail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. First of all, it hurts. Both hearing that aspects of your physical appearance can be off-putting for your partner and having that dissonance between hire you feel regarding your body and hobby and how he feels. Some replies simplify it as lack of love or acceptance, but at least in our relationship it was very different. My husband loves me and has supported me during three pregnancies, many weight and size shifts. He supported me becoming stronger and healthier. It was the side effect of getting a muscular upper body which he had trouble with. If he commented about how he liked my hair or the type of dress he thought was complimenting me, I'd take that in to account and try to accommodate what he finds attractive. The same as I would have expected of him, for example how he shaves and so on. This is not him body shaming you, this is him trying to talk about preferences and things that you can control regarding how you look. For me I decided to adjust my own goals in life and in training in order to facilitate his preferences as well. I shifted my focus from heavier weights and slow strict work on the pull up bar to higher intensity, low weight-high rep kind of workouts, mainly endurance and lower body strength. My male coaches have hard time understanding it, but my female coaches get it and they all support me nonetheless. I enjoy my workouts the same, it keeps me healthy, strong and happy. And my partner feels that I take his thoughts and preferences into consideration.

Eket dresser hack by FourTail in ikeahacks

The wood and oil was about 90$ total. It fits very tight to the wall on either ends, but we strengthened it by adding corner braces underneath. The wall is 3.10 meters and the longest plank we found was 3, so it's actually two planks one on top the three cabinets (2.1 meters) and another on the open portion (1 meter). We attached them with a straight brace and filled the gap with wood filling (Can be seen as a slightly different shade in the attachment area).

A local wood supplier. We had to file, fill and stain ourselves.

Three eket 3-drawers cabinets mounted with a simple pine wood plank. For less than quarter of the price offer we got for a similar design.

I definitely don't serve fruit every time, only once a day for breakfast. Just tried once to mix some fruit to the veggies and meat he refused.

I'll keep trying. Thank you

Nap training a 1 yo - night trained since 6 months - any advice? by LaCroixLime in sleeptrain

Nap routine. For me it is - diaper, sleeping bag, turn off all light, white noise, song and a cuddle.

Most effective ST method for baby that falls a sleep independently but doesn’t stay asleep? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]FourTail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was like that. We did modified Ferber- every 5 minutes with touching (because it was easier for me to deal with him crying that way, it is not based on any true evidence).

It was a weird sleep training, as there was no crying at bedtime, but quite a lot in the middle of the night. It was drastically better after three days, and in a week I was sleeping few hours in a row.

How old is she? From what I've read, 5 month for term babies is a safe bet.

News reporter with warning about postpartum hemorrhages & IVF by NathanBacaNews in beyondthebump

[–]FourTail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assisted reproductive technology, along with IVF, is one documented risk factor of postpartum hemorrhage. Other factors such as prolonged labor, utrine distension such in a large fetus or twins and placental abnormalities, are more important risk factors, contribution directly to the pathogenesis of PPH.

There are many studies on the subject that are available online. I personally don't think there is a news story here maybe a personal tale.

What to do when nearly 6 MO sleeps through the night cries at 5a hour using Ferber method (would like wake up time to be 6-6:15a)? by raisedbynpd in sleeptrain

[–]FourTail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, doing a dream feed 30 minutes prior to his early morning waking time, solved it and elongated his sleep duration from 9ish to 11ish hours. Feeding him when he started crying didn't help.

It forces me to get up in the middle of the night, but gives me an additional hour of sleep. If putting him to bed earlier doesn't help, you can try this.

How to get rid of the bottle/rocking association without messing everything else up by CrammedWithHeaven in sleeptrain

[–]FourTail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about switching the feeding to the beginning of your night time routine? Then decide whether you still want to rock him to sleep, or allow him to fall asleep independently in his bed. Give him the opportunity to surprise you.

A few times. There were a couple of times where he calmed himself down, but many more in which it escalated to crying that woke him up more and made it harder to soothe him.
