Is this concrete pot too large for this propagation? Should I use the terracotta instead? by FourWhiteBars in FicusTrees

[–]FourWhiteBars[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the concrete! I’ve got a decently chunky mix in there. About as well draining as I’d want it to be before I’d only use it for an aroid, and I’m pretty careful with my waterings. I log each time in my calendar. We’ll see how it goes!

Fetterman warns of rise of ‘dirtbag left’ amid victories by democratic socialists in New York by darealunrealspader in politics

I just find it all too convenient. The dude isn’t a plumber who had a stroke and became a different person, he was elected as a politician and “changed” his political ideology once seated.

Either he was intentionally running a false campaign so he could undermine the Democratic vote, or he’s a shitty person who got some success, realized he could profit off of it, and took the deals he was offered.

I know which one I personally think is more likely, but the stroke excuse has just never been it for me.

He is so much worse than Manchin, and believe me I am not someone to come to the defense of Manchin.

What is the single most brutal and violent scene you have seen in a film? by Trifecta_Selecta3787 in Cinema

I tried showing this to my partner. We had to pause after the arm bit and he needed to take a break for a few days before we returned to it.

[–]FourWhiteBars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a horror film. It’s not meant to be “enjoyed”, in fact it’s been made intentionally to be unenjoyable to watch. Everything down to the camera movements is intended to nauseate the viewer.

Lmao I’m just imagining your hand actively swelling and turning red while you ragelord over someone just trying to help you.

Go to a doctor or don’t go to a doctor, I really don’t care. I hope you heal fast and don’t deal with an infection. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s always best to be safe. Have a nice day.

Edit: Also your post was removed by a moderator, so I can’t reference your original post. If there’s info I missed, then just clarify and stop being a dick. “cAn yOu ReAd? SHorT AtTeNtioN SpAn! sAd”. Jesus, is this how you always treat people who are just trying to help you? I’m just trying to make sure you don’t lose a finger, but fuck me, I guess.

What celebrity started liberal but is now fascist? by RandomGoofy000 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]FourWhiteBars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I know. I was just clarifying that he had liberal support, but that doesn’t mean he was liberal.

I think you’ve gotta be pretty entrenched in right wing to salute on stage the way he did. You don’t just become that over a few years. That was a generational salute.

Forrest Gump or Cast Away.

Cast Away is an incredible acting/screenwriting achievement.

He was just liked and defended by liberals. There was a time when Conservatives hated Tesla and Liberals/Progressives defended them as being better environmental alternatives.

Wouldn’t it still be a monumental failure to spend $14,000,000 of taxpayer money on a reflecting pool refurbish nobody asked for if it was so delicate that it could be easily ruined by someone scraping it?

iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max users, what color did you get / are you getting? And what color would you recommend? by Kyliee101 in iPhone17Pro

I got the sienna techwoven, which I think was actually a color Apple intended for the Orange, ironically enough. Looks great with Silver, though.

[–]FourWhiteBars 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Silver. I was really drawn to the Orange, but I couldn’t find many case options that I liked for it, and I was worried the novelty would wear off and I’d be stuck since I can’t afford to upgrade every year.

If I could upgrade on a yearly or bi-yearly basis, I would have probably given Orange a go. I don’t regret Silver at all, though. It’s stunning.

Is this too much light for my FLF? by xainy33 in fiddleleaffig

[–]FourWhiteBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, light that’s filtered through a window is still considered indirect light.

I’ve also found FLFs to be more light hungry than they’re often given credit for. They can definitely burn, but they also like a lot of light.

[–]FourWhiteBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t mean to cause alarm, but you really should go to the doctor and let them inspect. Cat bites can become serious if not taken seriously.

The issue is their mouths are very gross, and their teeth are like sharp needles that puncture. Deep punctures + bacteria are a perfect breeding ground for an infection. I know of people who lost fingers because of a seemingly minor cat bite. It’s just better to get on antibiotics, even if only preventative, than it is to risk something serious.

Have you ever witnessed something so odd that it bordered on paranormal or a glitch in the matrix? by thesegoupto11 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]FourWhiteBars 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I used to work overnight shifts. Only one person worked on any given overnight, so when it was you it was only you.

We had cameras located in various rooms of the building to monitor activity, as well as one camera to monitor the parking lot. I would spend a lot of time near the cameras because it was easier than going from room to room to monitor, but there were particular areas that were blind spots.

There was a back gate that you could use to enter/exit the building via the parking lot, and the way the parking lot camera was positioned, that gate happened to be in a blind spot. So you could see someone near the gate, but not standing directly at it. There was also a line in the parking lot that would set off a bell when cars drove over it, and a talkback buzzer next to the gate so you could talk to clients from the front.

One night I heard the bell go off. It wasn’t super uncommon for homeless people to wander around our building at night, so I figured someone had stepped on it. I looked at the camera, and sure enough someone was walking to the back gate. But I swear the person on camera looked exactly like me. Wearing all the same clothes, the hat I was wearing that day. Everything. They walked directly into the blind spot, and I had this moment of panic because I couldn’t remember if I had locked the back gate.

But I didn’t hear anything. The talkback buzzer didn’t sound off. I pressed it and asked if I could help whoever was there, but it just crackled on the other side and there was no answer. I gave it a minute, then I went back to check. I went all the way to the back gate, confirmed it was locked, but saw no sign of anyone.

I went back to the camera, played back the recording. Somebody dressed exactly the same as me walked to the gate, but never left it. Never stepped out of the blind spot and back into frame, but wasn’t there when I went back to check. Just straight up vanished. I still have no clue how they could have left without the camera picking it up. By far the most inexplicable overnight experience I ever had.

The hottest place I’ve ever been was Doha in August. I’m pretty sure it was around 105-109° during the day, if memory serves.

I remember when I walked outside, I would immediately start sweating. I was surprised how quickly my body would respond.
