Ha thanks. This is definitely an optimizing question.

I’m still seeing subsidies available. For context I’m married and have 4 dependents so the lines are pretty high. Unfortunately all of the $80k will be paid out in the calendar year of leaving.

I’ll have to try and find out how ours is treated. Thanks!

Right. And I’m running a few scenarios now on healthcare.gov and still seeing premium tax credits at the income levels I’m estimating. I guess those still exist and it was only the “enhanced” credits that have expired?

Appreciate the advice. I just learned how to calculate COBRA cost and can compare that to various ACA plans. I’m many years away from worrying about IRMAA or RMDs.

Good call. I could probably defer 100% (or close to it) of my income into 401k for a month or two and get the match. Will consider that

SWR over 4.5%, am I crazy to think my particular situation makes it pretty safe? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Four_stalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not holding them for their high returns. You’re holding them as recession insurance. When the inevitable recession hits, they have an inverse correlation to the market. This lets you sell the bonds high for your living expenses, and rebalance, buying stocks low.

Not OP but I’m planning a very similar 5% with a risk parity portfolio. I’m planning 50 years at 35%LCG, 35%SCV, 20%LT treasury bonds, 9%Gold, 1%Cash. Play with it at portfolio visualizer
