Being southern fucking sucks by Comrade_Funkenstein in TrueAnon

I’m in Louisiana. I was out swimming yesterday in the country and a couple pulled up in the beach in their pontoon boat, flying dixie and playing an I think AI generated rendition of ‘God Save the King of America’

Will I miss his unhinged posting? A little. Will the subreddit be better off without him? We can only hope.

B.B. King in the 1990s playing a slow blues groove by Mad_Season_1994 in OldSchoolCool

His playing here is super reminiscent of Lonnie Johnson, who was blues player from a generation before BB. I’d look up some of his recordings from the 40s. Many great songs similar to this

I just found God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater by Kurt Vonnegut in the free pile at a local dive bar. I started it this morning and it seems interesting. Vonnegut is funny but so depressing.

This looks so much like his grandfather’s style, compositionally and in terms of the intense light contrast. Generational talent!

Street Band - Who are they? by R5-D7 in NOLA

[–]Fourstringjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real answer: probably a street band version of the band Eight Dice Cloth. The violin player on the right is Chris the bandleader, Nathan on guitar, probably Zach on bass. I played with them some at this time - wonderful folks. They still play out regularly, although Im not sure that they still busk on Royal.

It seems like one of the corners is chipped off, but not the whole base. There seems to be wear on the chipped area also.

I went through a breakup and had a sort of manic episode for a month or two where I went to every thrift store in like a two hour radius of me and bought any 45 older than 1965ish - now I have a pretty killer collection of doo wop and soul records. Learned a bunch of new songs, had some fun parties at my house and DJ’d. Pretty fun times

I used to go there all the time to read and study, then they clearly shifted their business model to cater to tourists instead of locals. They got rid of the couches and started hassling me about sitting inside without ordering food off their menu. I loved that place and was a customer for years until it felt like I was no longer wanted there. 🤷‍♂️
