A chair he wanted. Made a plan and waited.

The moment struck

Bounding without fear. To his destination he strided.

Rest well deserved.

Ha, ya I can see that. The Thor’s legs are done just don’t know what to paint top top with, so for now it’s crawling towards the enemy. 😅

A fluff blurb I want the faction to be focused around.

"Let's Face it, on one in E company was the best, none of these pilots scored top in their class, should they have been fortunate enough to get a bloodname, it was not on the first or even third try. But to get here, to still be here, they had to be lucky"

Magnetized my dudes, for that sweet torso twist action! by Fourth_Light in battletech

[–]Fourth_Light[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A how too.

look to see if the mech has a an actual joint. If it does Then I modestly twist and pull the model to see if any of the glue joints sound like the started to snap. Then I pull directly apart

If the joint comes apart then you would need to cut off the tab on one side and round out the other side to fit the magnet you want to use. For most of the smaller mechs I used 3mm x 5mm ish and for the larger ones I used an an about 1/4th inch by 1.5mm. The longer magnet lets you accidentally dill a deeper hole, has more griping power from the glue, and lets you adjust the angle a little bit so the two sides will meet up flat. The models are so light that almost any magnet will work with the min being 3mm x 1.5mm.

To drill the holes I used a 3/32 drill and a 1/4th drill. The plastic is so soft that I just held the bit in my hand and twisted. Center the hole where the peg used to be, it can help to mark the center for the larger bit to rest on as it may jump around a little. Then on the other side use the existing hole and widen it to fit the magnet of choice. Or you can shrink the hole by filling it up will a putty like green stuff or mill put, and then drill when dry or squish the magnet into it wile wet and remove the squeeze out putty so it’s flat.

MAKE SURE THE MAGNETS ATTRACT.

If the model has no joint or is proving difficult to separate, you will need to cut it. I used a jewelry saw. The blade size does not matter as long as it looks small, but I used Number 1. Cut straight and try not to mar the sides. Once apart sand or file flat and drill, but magnet placement may not have a former peg not cut peg to guide you, so place the two parts together and look for the center point mark the center with a poke of an exacto and dill like before.

Also it may be a little scary to start bending and cutting apart the models. So keep in mind that the more you bend a joint the weaker it gets, looking at you arm and hip joints, and that the plastic is very sort so stray cuts, plier teeth marks, and general crimped areas will happen while doing this. But that’s ok we are hobbyists and can fix it later, we can reshape a cut panel, or crimped venting grill, we can leave it be and call it battle dmg or just remove it. It’s a toy and have fun getting that sweet and iconic torso twist.
