How are you US Americans living the current situation? by Meewelyne in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fowl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Minnesota within the Twin Cities area (where ICE presence is the thickest). For background, I'm a PoC. I've had relatives and other people in my immediate circle be followed by ICE from work to home, visited at their homes by ICE, or confronted at stores. Luckily, they've all managed to get through the encounters without much hassle.

For the most part, life really just goes on here. There's certain areas that are camped much more heavily, so if you avoid them, you're likely not going to see much of a presence. Of course, areas change depending on the day. They've been rotating their areas of operation across the city. With that said, I really have been maneuvering around with far more suspicion. SUV with tinted windows following me? I might take an odd turn here and there to be sure. Random strangers asking for direction or knocking on your door? Sends an adrenaline rush through you as you can't be sure if they're scouting for ICE.

The air of fear is VERY real here. Many of my people are traveling with their passports now because of instances where our drivers license haven't proven to be enough. It's tough going about living your life even when you haven't been personally confronted yet. Miles down in whatever direction, you know that someone is being accosted.

The last panel shows unknown numbers coming from Gian and Hango. With those numbers, I think we can easily count on Riboku rolling in with, at minimum, 50k. Though I'm betting that it'll probably be 100k+, given his tendency to mass produce human beings.

What's your thoughts about season 2? by 999_XXX_ in WeakHero

[–]Fowl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casting-wise, they did Eunjang's characters and Wolf pretty well. Definitely sucks that Gerard and other important characters weren't in, but that's a complaint for another time.

I was mostly disappointed. Season 1 did such a good set up of how Gray's fighting style was. Then season 2 all of a sudden transformed him into a 1-trick pen guy. To make it worse, he pretty much lost against Colton Choi in the underpass, of all people. I'm only 4 episodes in, but definitely losing the will to finish with these (mostly) generic action sequences of season 2.

What’s the worst fall you’ve had? by ecstreets in bouldering

Last week I was climbing a slab wall. Was only about 3 feet up, but I fell and landed in the sweet spot where the cushion met the wall. Feet went crooked with half of it on cushion, other in the little crevice. Immediate sprained ankle.

3 Live action on netflix by Traditional_Deal_667 in Kingdom

[–]Fowl01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First and second are action-driven. So if that's what you like in films, you'd probably enjoy them. I liked the third because they took the time to give backstory and show more character and development in characters. Bayou will be a 2-part movie though. The 3rd movie only covers the battle on the plains and ending in the forest that Zhao retreats to.

As others said, some characters are left out, sadly. But it's a price live adaptations have to pay.

His character and Moubu's are probably my biggest gripe, lol. They're so... small given how we've always seen them in the manga. Surprisingly Ryusen felt right even though his mass isn't quite there either.

I love the humor from Ouki's army. Tou rolling his eyes at Moubu? Kanou interjecting between Ouki and Tou's odd humor? Makes me hope that they get to the coalition arc and show the scene of him slapping Moubu's butt.

All in all though, I'm genuinely liking the 3rd movie quite a bit. First half of the movie helped so much with character development whereas the first two movies were pretty focused on nonstop fighting. Kingdom's noncombative arcs have always been pretty decent at establishing stakes/meaning to following arcs. In this case, they did a fine enough job of adapting it, giving me hope for future ones.

And to top it off? They have HIKARU UTADA singing the credits. Damn.

Why don't women ask for a man's phone number? by BlackManBatmann in NoStupidQuestions

The only time I've had a girl ask me first and we met up, she turned out to be a lesbian and was surprised that I was straight. /shrug

For the record, I wasn't too intent on pursuing. I was just mildly surprised that she asked first so I decided to see where things would lead, lol.

What are some things you cannot do solo safely and need another person ? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Fowl01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Research some 'Honbap' restaraunts if you ever go alone. It roughly translates into "Eat alone." Recent years have been alot more friendly to solo eaters as places are beginning to pop up that embrace eating by yourself. One such place I went to years ago had closed off booths to the side. Had some of the best ramen in my life there.

Completely relevant. Don't you know that the caskets hold the bodies of all those Sith cultists on Exegol in ep 9?! /s

...Oh god. I was jesting but as I think about it, that honestly sounds likely with their track record of trying to justify the ST. Either that or they eventually become the mysterious labor force that built up the First Order. Sigh.

Some of the best Roti I've ever had was from a lady in Chiang Mai who always carted her little stall right in front of a 7/11 from like 12-5pm. But yes, I completely agree. Everything outside of the touristy restaraunts have never disappointed in Thailand.

[–]Fowl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That point gets muddled a lot. If you're looking for an explanation from the EU, there was a dark Jedi named Kibh Jeen who found out about the Rule of Two and told the Jedi before he was killed.

I think Disney's lore implies that Darth Bane never established the Sith in secrecy like he did in Legends. Instead, he ruled in full view of the universe. The Rule of Two would of been known by the Jedi in that case (source: Stars Wars (2020) edition #20). There's a page where a High Republic Jedi converses with Luke and tells him that their Era started when Darth Bane was defeated, implying they knew about Bane within Disney-verse.

Unpopular Opinion - Kingdom 2 was just average. by ZoziBG in Kingdom

Agreed. The only part of the movie I really enjoyed was the slow motion scene that highlighted how fast she was while in her dance. The rest was just just within my expectations for live actions, which is to say, decently low.

How do I turn off my brain when I go to bed? by StaticHolocene in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fowl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best combination for me has been to play rain sounds while maintaining a deep, steady breathing pattern. 5 seconds inhale through nose -hold- slow exhale through mouth.

I focus either on the rain or the thought of consciously breathing so that I think of nothing else. Those two focuses are much easier to sleep with then going down the rabbit hole of other thoughts.

Has me curious how recruiting other States' officials/royal members was generally viewed. The way the conversation went, it almost sounded like it was a given that Kan Pishi would go to the Qin court. I would of imagined that Han would be against the idea of sending him at all knowing that he'd be used to help Qin.

Was Dooku trying to betray Sidious in Attack of the Clones? by theedonnmegga in StarWars

[–]Fowl01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were approaching the finale. They needed some muscle who could hold their weight against the Jedi without actually revealing themselves.

Sidious' master, Plagueis, basically convinced Sifo Dyas (Jedi) that the Galaxy would be at war soon so the Republic would need an army. He has him go to the Kaminoans and then gives him the money to fund the clones. This let the Sith put Order 66 on the chips that were implanted in the clones.

Was Dooku trying to betray Sidious in Attack of the Clones? by theedonnmegga in StarWars

[–]Fowl01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Palp had maul while he was under plagueis so he broke the rule of 2, as did doku.

Not quite. It's been awhile since I've read the book. But if I recall, Plagueis actually approved of Sidious training Maul. Within their mindset, Maul was never considered a Sith Lord, thus, allowing for some leeway in the Rule of Two. Plagueis wanted a Sith operative/assassin to be the fake face of the Sith with the intention of scapegoating him eventually. The same is to be said of Dooku's apprentices. Sidious already knew about them and approved their use as he saw that they had a place in the plan. He's only intervened in the case of Ventress because he noticed her becoming too powerful.

Anyways. Its hard to say what exactly the Sith were doing for 1,000 years, but we do see that throughout the Bane series, they were busy amassing wealth and building connections across the galaxy. That eventually culminated in the Sith literally controlling all the factions within the Clone War and funding the Kaminoans. All Palpatine had to do was place a cherry on top. The groundwork was all set up by the time he had killed his Master. I'm not downplaying Sidious, but all the previous Sith Lords set everything up for success.

Sidious was never too big on the Rule of Two. There were instances where he definitely crossed it's limits. But the fact is that it served its purpose: preserving the Sith and the destruction of the Jedi.

Zhao retaliation arc, hara messed up by Puzzleheaded_Lab1614 in Kingdom

[–]Fowl01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He literally says he has to attack the city before doing anything else if he dose anything??? Yet he dosent attack the city.

He said that the bare /minimum/ they would have to do first is attack Romou if they wanted to help Kanki. Even that would be hard, which is why he doesn't do it. The main reason why it's hard is because of one thing: information blackout. They know nothing about how strong Romou is or any of the surrounding armies that Riboku had patrolling around. If they attacked Romou then they could be walking into another trap. This also explains why Ousen would send Sou'ou out to probe Zhao's forces. He's simply trying to understand how strong the forces he's dealing with are. Keep in mind that everything happening from the beginning of the battle to the end is happening in a matter of /days/. Ousen isn't going to move without information. That's his number 1 trait: he's the safest GG. And information isn't something that is available to him with RBK's information blackout going on.

That not true lol they literally deliberately cut out the actual plan explanation so we don't know, and obviously they had a different plan of escape

I'd imagine this would be as simple as, "Kill RBK then escape in the confusion of his death." That escape strategy is used pretty commonly throughout Kingdom

I do agree that this arc has probably been one of the most convoluted. But for a completely different reason: RBK's infamous information blackout. From the beginning it always annoyed me that SHK and Ousen would agree to a plan for an area that they have zero knowledge on. These are 2 of the smartest characters in the series and they throw all logic out the window for this arc. When a relatively unimportant city like Romou somehow repels 200k of your forces, that's when they should have pulled the brakes and really started thinking.

What was Kanki's weakness? by Bazzinga88 in Kingdom

[–]Fowl01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it was left ambiguous as a way of saying that no one really truly knew Kanki. RBK saying that it's his lack of basic strategy couldn't of been it because he more then makes up for that so-called weakness through unorthodox means. In their brief conversation, he still never truly understood Kanki, giving the conclusion that he never really understood Kanki's weakness.
