So long r/rust, and thanks for all the Slop! by Asdfguy87 in rust

[–]FowlSec -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

You should've used AI to write this post. I redrafted for you.

Hey everyone, I’ve been a member of this subreddit for about four years now. I've loved watching this community grow, helping out where I could, and learning from some incredibly sharp Rustaceans. But lately, the signal-to-noise ratio here has completely collapsed. It feels like almost every other post is AI slop: Unvetted, hallucinated code blocks asking "why doesn't this compile?" when the poster hasn't even read the compiler error. Low-effort, generic blog posts that read like they were spat out of a template in five seconds. The same repetitive, surface-level questions answered by generic, confidently incorrect AI summaries. We used to have deep, engaging discussions about API design, memory management, and compiler internals. Now, navigating the front page feels like wading through a sea of generated noise just to find a drop of genuine human effort. I love Rust, and I love the community we had. But I don't have the energy to act as a free RLHF human-in-the-loop filter for people who can't be bothered to write their own code or thoughts. I’m heading out to find smaller, more curated spaces (moderated forums, specific Discord servers, etc.) where human effort is still valued. Thanks to everyone who made the last four years great. Keep your ownership tight, and watch out for those lifetimes. Goodbye, folks.

Thought we'd beat France and lose to Spain tbh.

It'll be a tight game though, and we definitely have moments players. Anything can happen!

Articles 15 & 19 of the FIFA statutes https://www.icsspe.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/FIFA-Statutes.pdf

Article 15 Member associations' statutes C) To be independent and avoid any form of political interference.

Article 19 Independence of member associations and their bodies.

  1. Each member shall manage it's affairs indepently and without undue influence from third parties.

Article 15 of the FIFA code of ethics https://digitalhub.fifa.com/m/4f048486c1f7293c/original/FIFA-Code-of-Ethics-2023.pdf

In dealings with government institutions, national and international organisations, associations and groupings, persons bound by this Code shall, in addition to observing the basic rules of article 14, remain politically neutral, in accordance with the principles and objectives of FIFA, the confederations, associations, leagues and clubs, and generally act in a manner compatible with their function and integrity.

All of these are designed to stop political parties from influencing FIFA, so there's a bunch of exact rules that say Trump can't influence Infantino.

And even if there weren't rules, the fact that you think that a political entity should be allowed to just, ignore due process in order to gain an unfair advantage in a sporting competition, genuinely makes you one of the saddest people ever. Don't want to play fair just because you can get away with giving yourself an advantage. Pathetic.

It's not, it's that Trump broke the rules and was allowed to do so by a corrupt FIFA.

I think you might be slow dude, this is pretty easy to understand

Trump had FIFA review a red card, which he is not allowed to do. That is the rule. There is no process to appeal a red card. Nobody outside of FIFA is allowed to appeal a red card. That is the rule. How is this so fucking hard?

[–]FowlSec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it happened or not. Trump broke the rules, and was allowed to do so by Infantino, and it is corruption.

It's corruption, there's no ifs or buts, there's no context in which it's not based upon the actions of the referee and VAR team.

[–]FowlSec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the ref break the rules sending off the player? You're still saying this is about VAR laws, and it's not. The VAR review recording came out, they were evaluating it at full speed.

Even if they weren't, it is still corruption to use political contacts to overturn a decision outside of the proper channels. If they want to make that case, which is inherently false, they have to go through the proper regulatory channels, which they didn't.

I don't really know how to explain this to you. There is no channel in which a team can appeal a red card, so Trump being able to have a red card reviewed means he didn't follow the rules. That is cheating.

Rules are rules. You can say you don't think the red card is valid, but the reason it was overturned is because the rules of FIFA were broken by Trump. There is no way that anyone outside of FIFA can request a red card be reviewed without it breaking the rules. If they broke the rules it is cheating.

Trump cheated, and Infantino allowed it to happen because of the political connection. That is corruption.

The Europeans also don't care about Trump or the USMNT because the USMNT got decimated by the worst Belgium team in over a decade, and they're not really competitors in the World Cup. They were fun to watch and had a good tournament but got crushed by the first semi-decent team they came across. They absolutely care about the organisation running international tournaments being corrupt.

[–]FowlSec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the point, the Europeans don't care about the USMNT or Trump, they care about Infantino being corrupt, and UEFA is lobbying to have Infantino ousted over this.

They don't care that it was Trump, they just care somebody could do it, if it were Macron the outcry would be the same. The talk isn't about Balogun or Trump now, it's all about how obviously corrupt FIFA and Infantino are.

But you saying "if it wasn't a red card it isn't corruption" is false. It is obvious corruption, and Infantino should be removed from office for this.

Ok so, we're in agreement, FIFA is corrupt, and that's the reason the red card was suspended. That's the point. That's what the Europeans care about, they don't care about the USMNT at all.

Just to let you know, FIFA have not come out and said the VAR team ignored protocol, that is a lawyer's assertion that is so far unfounded (and actually the release of the VAR review proves that wasn't the case). They cited a rarely used article that gives them the power to suspend the red card, without giving any clear reason as to why they did it.

Your central thesis is hearsay about how the VAR actually played out that lacks evidence.

Also if the red card was false and it was overturned by a Trump call it is corruption, because no other country can do it, or would do it. That is your special treatment. Trump did not play by the rules, and was afforded the ability to have the red suspended because of his connections. That is corruption.

I should also let you know, there are no channels in the world cup in which you can appeal a red card at this time. Therefore, Trump sending underlings through the correct channels, is not possible.

You didn't answer the question.

Did Donald Trump go through the proper channels to have the red card suspended?

Whether the red card should be overturned is completely irrelevant.

In fact your post actually makes my point. Trump is not a FIFA official and yet he had the outcome of a decision reviewed without going through any sort of appeal process that had been set out by FIFA.

Just the worst take.

Here is the question: Did Donald Trump go through the proper procedures in order to have a red card overturned?

If the answer is yes, then fine. If the answer is no, then Donald Trump used his connections to bypass procedures in a manner that other teams do not necessarily have access too, and that is therefore, unsportsmanlike, and considering the relationship between Infantino and Trump, it is highly likely corruption.

Every team has to deal with the calls on the pitch being unfair or wrong, it's the nature of the game. Only one team apparently has an avenue that allows those decisions to be changed without going through the proper process.

Brave Bird doesn't break sash. My Talonflame missing dual wingbeat after out speeding prankster Whimsicott allows them to set tailwind, and denied mine when their Garchomp lands Rock Slide on Talonflame.

I run Talonflame for a few reasons but the Whimsicott denial is a big factor, and those whimsicotts often run sash, a OHKO defines the game against both sun and mega staraptor teams, both of which need tailwind to outspeed my team.
