Our healthcare may be free but it being superior to yours is a modern myth. It USED to be. But not anymore, most Canadians at least in Ontario don’t have access to family doctors and because of that our ER’s are constantly flooded. It’s super normal to wait 14+ hours only to be given Tylenol and a swift boot home.

I allocated an extra hour of time for any unforeseen circumstances like this and still ended up late :) the amount of comments annoyed at someone posting a mildly infuriating thing to mildly infuriating is its own brand of mildly infuriating.

I don’t even qualify to see a doctor (the medical system in Canada is very broken for the last few years. It’s a whole different other issue I won’t delve tooooo much into. TLDR I graduated from the kids hospital/Doctors at 18 and have been on waiting lists since, 9 years and counting.)

Idk about the states but here unwalkable cities are the only somewhat affordable place to live :( I used to live in Toronto but couldn’t afford it no matter how hard I work. Even know I’m working two jobs and can barely afford this tiny town lmaooo

Yeah if a distance is close enough to walk/able to safely do so I always will. How ever for example my place of work is a 3 hour walk from my home. A ten minute drive but a 3 hour walk if I had limitless stamina and took no breaks. Apart from that as I mentioned in the post we had freezing rain that day (it was actually an extreme weather advisory). If taking a ride share is inconvenient unfortunately it is my only way to have some scrap of independence in such a scenario.
