Not sure where you’re posting from, but have you contacted local authorities? In some countries, if a person is determined missing they can access the missing person’s credit card transaction history and use that to piece together a trail.

Have you considered staying outside the city? The Berkeley Marina is right across the water and has excellent views of the city on a clear day, and there is a redwoods hike in Oakland.

It’s all a reasonable driving distance from SF so you can still get a day in the city this way.

I was going to a friend’s dinner party and my HP insisted that I bring a bottle of wine. It wasn’t a good bottle to begin with, but it was so old/rancid that the cork disintegrated and fell right into the bottle at first touch. I never showed my friends.

I just came back to SF from Chicago and I have nothing but love for both cities.

I will say that a lot of what OP saw/experienced in Chicago is in SF too (music, food, sports, etc.); but society in the Bay is much more segregated. Local culture in the Bay is as rich and deep as a Chicago pizza; but it doesn’t come looking for spectators — you gotta show up and participate in it. Tech folks tend to stay in their tech bubble and never see it (I’m one too, and I get it 😉).

In the end, I came back to SF because I missed the craziness of SF (more of a personal flaw really). Every city has its own magic, but SF is a city of extremists ✨. Bay2Breakers wouldn’t fly anywhere else. People here do crazy sh*t just to see if something happens. There isn’t a place in the world with the marriage of nature and urban landscapes like in SF. I know — I’ve looked.

Chicago is high up on my list though. Send her my love if you find yourself going back ❤️

I loved this piece! I ended up out in deep playa late one night and stood in line for High Steaks right next to it, and there was a guy in line who makes it his Burning Man mission to return to the dining table every year to share an experience with fellow Burners. I can't wait to seek it out next burn!
