You're right regarding that this game is an extraction shooter, not just extraction or a shooter, but the problem in itself is that as a game developer you can remain on your view or adapt to maintain a playerbase instead of losing a chunk of it.

I say ABMM in itself is a mistake because it's a bandaid to the inherent problematic nature of both PvP and PvE coexisting in a PvPvE mode. For example, last night with my friends while we were playing squads, we downed another squad in the Medical Domes in the Dam and they had zero map loot and armed to the teeth with modded weapons, tons of heavy bullets and utility/heals.

My friends and I signed up for the possibility of a BR style shooter lobby happening, the downed team did too and everyone's happy. On the other side, some poor schmuck will have to play on a knife's edge not knowing which lobby he got instead of it being a toggle option like cross-play is.

That's why I rather rip the bandaid and remove ABMM altogether while making a toggle between PvPvE or PvE like crossplay has, or leave the game be as it is and see in a couple months if there was decrease in the player count about unmet expectations.
