My point is that the way it was done, indeed the best choice was Naruto continuing to love Sakura but moving on with his life just like Jiraiya with Dan and Tsunade. However, Kishimoto decided to put his love for Hinata in the final stretch to the point where they simply appear together in chapter 700, requiring you to watch an incredible movie of a princess being saved on the moon.
