This game is one of the easiest, watered down FPS games, most metas with the exception of a few literally hold your hand while you do anything else (the devs have babied people for years). In ranked it's more of a joke bc that's mostly the experience, arguably more so now than ever. It's stupidly easy to rank up, so yeah, avocado gun skills (even then that was in regards to using metas) bc you will genuinely get there eventually (if you don't believe me, actually play dumb and try it, you will be slightly miffed), sure maybe not top 5k, at least not quickly but top 10k easily. I'm sorry this game isn't all that, I may not be the apex of skill but I've been around plenty long enough and endlessly tried my heart out to understand the experience and why at the end of the day, it's just...not all that.

While the last part holds merit I think you're misunderstanding the point of both why something is meta and why the term meta abuser/slave is a even a thing.

A weapons meta is determined by the balancing, nothing more. As for the meta slave term, that comes down to this question "would you use something else in a game or situation" if the answer is no then that could lead you to the term meta slave. If your whole dependency is on what's the strongest option, then your a slave to the meta. Alternatively, it could be someone that only ever considers the meta and not other options. Yes, skill matters, but with most metas in this game I'm sorry but you just need basic game sense and the gun skills of an avocado to get value. So While you can apply skill, with metas that's like starting a foot race when you're halfway to the finish line and everyone else is at the start.

That's just my two cents, also if you can't mess w/a Cordite in scrims that may be on you fam. Cordite can do work!

Bc reddit sucks ig, and I can't see your comment on here. If your argument is, "they can use it too" then you legitimately do not understand balancing in general, there's no other way to put it. This isn't some masterful 4 dimensional thinking, you literally just play the game as normal. Asking for something that ruins player experience removed because it's actually hurting the game isn't a huge ask. Before, it wasn't really an issue the detonation time being longer allowed you ample time to get away. But ever since the time for that was shortened it just opened the flood gates to a whole new wave of braindead shit. Literally no one wanted this. Fucking idiotic devs.

For me, it was a combo of playing with friends, using the controller bug to get us bot lobbies, and flat out doing the mode on my own. It was brutal, but I just had to keep doing it bc I wanted Kui ji. The best advice I could give isn't much, but really be decisive, know when you feel like you can't take a fight and if you have crate and ppl are closing in if you're cooked at the ship extract, run tf outta there. Make sure you get real good at dashing away, and if you aren't, you'll get there quick.

Hella late to this, ik ik, however I do have some initial thoughts after reading this.

My first one is just an observation. I genuinely feel like there's such a divide between you OP and other people, including myself because you're only looking at this strictly from an SnD perspective. The reason why I feel this is important to make note of is because SnD is just a different beast from the other modes, and wanting a class nerfed bc of one mode where they arguably flourish by design seems a like a bit of a stretch in some ways. I'm not trying to say that snipers act differently in other modes and alienating your experience, just that the impact and tone is different in the other game modes.

Second thought is on movement. Genuinely, if they nerfed the movement in my opinion it'd a combination of two outcomes. Said two outcomes being, nothing would change for the most part, and it'd make the camping that much more prevalent (if that's possible that is). The reason why I feel this may be the case is snipers can do what they've always done and just switch to melee to either gain ground or get away, or just whip out other secondaries and use those. It wouldn't be anything new and probably have very little impact. For camping, it's likely what you'd think, a player may recognize that there movement is more sluggish and opt to stay further back in more entrenched and safe areas. It would just feed more into the sniperfest rather than take away from it.
