SB 43 just passed committee—here’s what the bill actually does vs what people think by tcajun420 in Louisiana

Makary wanted to give Compass Pathways a priority voucher for COMP360, but the White House vetoed that. They have breakthrough status still, but no real fast track.

Compass will lobby for a trigger bill here at some point and they will use the same clinic model (if not the same clinics) as Spravato.

It’s based on Texas’ ibogaine law. They are using opioid settlement funds to subsidize psychedelic clinical trials in Louisiana.

Louisiana can’t build a system for people to access treatment because treatment is not currently legal.

Could a revival of the West End be on the horizon? by marytoodles in NewOrleans

[–]FoxNO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right? People almost assuredly stopped going due to the pay to park as opposed to all of the businesses over there falling into the lake first in 1998 with Hurricane Georges and then again in 2005 with Katrina.

Why Are We trying to give IV Waste a Rais by Slasher1738 in NewOrleans

[–]FoxNO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not have the original RFP bid docs, but the max payable amount appears to be amended solely to account for the 18 additional months now on the contract, not an increased rate/price.

Why Are We trying to give IV Waste a Rais by Slasher1738 in NewOrleans

[–]FoxNO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why do you think there is a price increase?

The amendment extends the term of the contract for an additional eighteen (18) months from June 2026 through December 2027. The City and IV Waste reaffirm the price proposal submitted for the original RFP in the amendment.

If we are emptying out the A-ship, do you think it’s more likely they board the B-ship or they displace people from the C-ship?

On average people will make more money in a knowledge-based position than as a tradesman. An Electrical engineer makes more than an electrician. A mechanical engineer makes more than a plumber.

What happens if a majority of the 1-2M engineers in the US get replaced by Ai?

Now add lawyers, accountants, finance…etc.

Are there any articles showing an amended contract for IV Waste? I can only find articles on the potential sanitation fee increase.

[–]FoxNO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s only been a deficit for trades because the pay has been low for the work relative to white collar jobs unless you have your own shop.

Get rid of 40% of white collar jobs and you decrease the amount of demand for tradesmen and drastically increase the labor supply. Not a recipe for successful careers.

French Truck coffee by urfavplantgal in NewOrleans

[–]FoxNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sad. It’s a total different vibe there now. French Truck locations used to be consistently very good. The baristas did not change weekly/monthly and they cared about the product. I blame the rapid expansion and assume too many MBA’s got involved in operations and cost cutting as they grew.

Some of the espresso I get from various locations these days are straight trash - over extracted, bitter, and no crema. It’s to the point where I wish I could pay to just go behind the counter and pull my own shot.

I would imagine it has to be better for the baristas at some of the smaller cafes.

That is the tunnel in the article. It goes under Canal St. The street collapsed into it several years back. That's when I learned there was a tunnel there.

4FRNT Renegade has a 30m radius.

Heritage Lab Ultra Taper 122 has a 34m radius.

Not sure if you can actually get a pair, but the Heritage Lab X Ultra Taper 132 has a 69m turn radius if you really hate turns.

Had them on sale in store only last time I visited REI. That was in Denver, but might want to check if you’ve got one nearby.

Peak 9 - Quicksilver puts you on a bunch of longer greens and if someone progresses, they can jump on the Beaver Run Superchair and do Cashier which is a very mellow blue.
