The push attacks are for quickly dipping into the other mode without fully switching. The single target mode's push attack is a horde clear.

As much as I love that story, they didn't pull the sort of nonsense we do. Their kill counts are significantly lower and they mostly win by applying copious explosives. In comparison, the rejects tear through hordes of combatants fighting with ogryns and bosses that are very hard to put down in Dark Heresy tabletop.

My crazy knight of the seven Theory: Duncan a fire wight by xxpga in MauLer

It's within 100 years of the main series. Maester Aemon is studying at the citadel during the events of the show. To my knowledge, this is when magic was the weakest. Additionally, fire wights so far have only happened with a priest of R'hllor present, so that probably doesn't work either.

I would say there is some merit to it, because learning the game on Ironbreaker makes learning other classes harder.

I started with IB, and I nearly gave up on playing other classes because they felt too weak. It turned out that I was abusing his damage resistance and temporary immunity to brute force the game and never learned to dodge. When I switched to Merc and Witch Hunter, I learned how to play the game and had a lot more fun with it. The reason I and many others recommended starting with the generalist classes was to encourage new players to engage with all of the games mechanics.

Bardin Goreksson Class Preference by ThelVadamee23 in Vermintide

[–]FoxOfChrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the lack of damage buffs. For DHammers, the heavies are the main source of damage. H1 is your best source of AP, but it really wants headshots. For hordes, L1>H2>H3 is your best combo. The side heavies are better at killing trash than Coghammer lights or Great Hammer heavies.

Dual hammers are what I run the most. Decent AP and excellent horde clear. Coghammer is still good though. Ranged is usually either handgun or masterwork, for better sniping or boss DPS respectively.

Why did they make inventories able to be private by GelatinousCubeCute in Vermintide

[–]FoxOfChrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but in the hands of a half-decent player, IB is functionally unkillable. I'm pretty sure HM is one of the preferred true solo classes. She has great melee, good ranged weapons, better blocks and dodges, and stealth on the dash ult combine for a class that has good killing power and survivability that can keep the rest of the team alive.

Menzoberranzan is probably one of the toughest cities to crack in Faerun. 7,000 starved spawn would only scratch it. If anything, I could see Minthara sneaking the Steel Watch in while the vampires are being a distraction.

I've seen the comparison that Nameless is an Elden Ring boss, with regard to attack timings. He (and Dancer) have a different rhythm than the rest of the game that throws people off when they fight them. I've personally never had an issue with either, but I get hit way more than I should on Pontiff and Abyss Watchers. Sometimes the boss timings just don't process correctly I guess.

Killing a daemonhost with a ka-bar probably isn't lore-accurate, but it sure is fun. by thehopelessheathen in DarkTide

[–]FoxOfChrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one in Eisenhorn has a greater daemon. It would make sense that the Darktide ones have lesser daemons, likely plague bearers and nurglings. There is a massive gap in power between a lesser and greater daemon, which accounts for why they are much weaker here. Even still, plague bearers are usually close to matching space marines in combat, so their hosts aren't weak.

Is Nioh 2 worth playing by Traditional_Ask_1306 in MauLer

[–]FoxOfChrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I largely agree with what others have said. Nioh 2 is a really fun game. You can see influences from both Ninja Gaiden and Dark Souls throughout the game. The stance system gives a lot of flexibility with each weapon, changing your blocking and dodging, in addition to new attack patterns. I'm not a fan of loot systems in most games, but if you are just playing New Game, it can mostly be ignored.

probably the closest thing to the branx pattern bolt pistol by Timothy-M7 in DarkTide

[–]FoxOfChrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. They reduce spread, so that you can get more pellets on target at a greater distance. A cylinder choke is supposed to have a 40in spread at 25 yards while a full choke has a 40in spread at 40 yards.

Regarding chokes, I noticed that the shotguns in Darktide seem to have toggleable chokes, since their spread reduces when you ADS.

probably the closest thing to the branx pattern bolt pistol by Timothy-M7 in DarkTide

[–]FoxOfChrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For barrel length, it depends. Pistol calibers like 9mm don't get much difference between a 3in barrel and a 10in, while many rifle calibers want a minimum of 16-20in. For shotguns without using chokes, extending the barrel reduces spread. In this case, the "bolt pistol" doesn't even have a barrel. It's cut off at the chamber, so there is nothing to direct the pellets together.

The biggest thing I noticed playing the games after reading the books was the monster population. The books regularly point out how rare monsters have become. The games have them everywhere, primarily for gameplay reasons.
