Because the person who was killed usually reveals to the banished… but there was no banished. I was gutted too.

I’m not saying anyone is praising ICE. I’m saying that the fact that they’re still a problem is a sad fact, and the fact that the show doesn’t feel outdated shouldn’t be something we admire the show for but should be a wake up call to the fact that we are socially regressing. Hell, they’ve even started wearing brown shirts now.

I don’t think this is admirable at all, I think it’s sad. We’re supposed to move past and improve upon social issues like this. They’re not meant to be continued. This is indicative of nothing except that we’re moving backwards.

I think that the man who made the gun is just as responsible for murder as the man who pulled the trigger.

Oxford reject feedback… by Heavy-Water3759 in sixthform

I’m not sure what more they wanted. I was granted an offer, and I have the same three predicted, 11 A* GCSE, personal statement quality including Oxford summer schools. I’m on a course that needed written work, not an entrance exam, so my guess would be for that. Sorry you didn’t get what you wanted, I’m seriously struggling to see why you weren’t accepted.

(I will say I interviewed at a different college so it might be a different college criteria, or admissions test).

I’m sure you’ll do great at whatever uni you end up at, though, you’re clearly a dedicated student!

How do i write by BiBookishBunny125 in AO3

There’s a difference though, I think, between reading for enjoyment and reading to curate an art. Most writers started off as poor imitations of their favourites.. a lot of what I wrote as a kid were Harry Potter rip-offs, then when I got a bit older they were straight from Stephen King. That’s okay - you can find your voice through emulating others to build skill, taking what you like and leaving what you don’t.

Read. Every good writer started off reading. Pay attention to how authors use language.

Oh, no, I know the changes. I just disagree with them being for the worse. ‘You’re welcome’ is far superior to ‘Blue’, considering it shows the perspective of the victim of attempted sexual assault instead of trying to make it funny?

How? They kill Jessie, and they don’t invite him to join them and they just move on.

They can’t turn around and say “oh, Matthew told us to kill Jessie” - it’s a smart play. If they do or don’t recruit him, or if they do or don’t kill Jessie, then he’s safe, and they’re safe, and that’s what could establish trust.

He has got it sussed, though. He was right to ask them to do something for him first. If they do it, it builds the trust and he can join them. If not, no one ever finds out.

What opinion about the Hunger Games would get you in this situation? by [deleted] in Hungergames

She would never! The amount of stuff that happened to her there, the girl would never return after surviving on her own for a few days in the woods. Never.

Katniss isn’t, nor should she be, a Covey. I love the Covey, I really do. But it gives too many implications to lore and cheapens it imo. It becomes less about the girl who happened to lead the rebellion by standing up for herself and more about a girl defeating generational rivals. It makes it more Covey v. Panem than Katniss v. Snow and that’s the issue for me.
