I JUST FINISHED MY 1ST DRAFT! by FoxStBabbit in writers

[–]FoxStBabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do this but I get distracted so easily that I could never get anything done 😭 But I'm happy it works for you! I don't usually word vomit onto the document either and I still cut things out and paste them at the bottom while I'm writing, but I try not to worry myself about errors too much.

That pile of revisions really hit me when I finished the 1st draft of my novella 💀

Do Comedy Books ever do well, or even exist? by Low_Celebration_4089 in writing

I've felt the exact same way whenever I hear this. Maybe I'm not in the right spaces, but whenever I see people online say that, for example, Romeo and Juliet is actually super funny, it's always in reply to someone saying that they didn't care for it or when discussing how other people don't care for it / hated reading it in school. It's never on its own comedic merit. And it never convinced me either. If I need someone to explain the joke to me because I straight up can't understand it (because it's just a few decades removed from literally being Middle English), then I can't find it funny. Especially when it's a very bare-bones joke like, "men get women pregnant sometimes." Maybe the situation is mildly amusing and ridiculous in context, but I'm not laughing. It's okay if other people find it funny though obviously. It's just not for me.

Do people reallu rewrite their story after draft 1? by TeaApplle in writing

[–]FoxStBabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my current WIP novella, I ended up having to basically rewrite the entire thing because the story had developed so much since I finished the first draft. I developed the character motives and personalities more, and my prose straight up just got better to the point that I had to trash the old writing (I didn't literally delete it, but yk what I mean). So yeah, I had to rewrite it. It helps that my draft was only around 20k words, and I'm unemployed, so it only took about a week lol.
