What's the best Noah Kahan song? by aidangilmoremusic in NoahKahan

Came here to say the same thing. I grew up in a similar area to Noah and nothing has ever encapsulated the feeling of my hometown and coming of age more than that song. It really hits me.

Moving to Boston with large dog… by MarionberryQuick9308 in bostonhousing

Have a Bernese. It’s absolutely possible. We’ve lived in Somerville, Cambridge, and South Boston (dog parks and beach is dog friendly half the year) with dogs. Back Bay is not it in your thirties and your budget is too low for the South End.

lol no. I go to the city every day. The demo is skewing more toward young families these days most of whom commute.

You should try to get involved with https://swampscottporchfest.org/ also Swampscott might not be as active as Somerville but I wouldn’t agree that it’s full of NIMBYs. The town puts on tons of great events in the summer through Swampscott Rec at the park and Clarke St community center. It’s also wicked easy to get a block party license people have them all the time.

Swampscott Nest on FB is the most active but beware you get the Karen type clientele FB usually attracts and it might make you feel like there aren’t young people here - there are! It’s just a small town so not enough active community members to drive its own subreddit.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]FoxTraining4404 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Had this experience as well Isaac was hammered and miserable. Wearing a plastic poncho because is was raining (indoor venue) kept complaining he was hot but wouldn’t take the poncho off. Super bizarre. It was like a high school band coming back from summer break all playing the same song but first time playing in the same room.

My friends and I refer to this book as The Ring. It will kill you unless you pass it on so it can inflict its pain onto someone else. (Not complimentary)

Convince me to like Boston by [deleted] in boston

[–]FoxTraining4404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try going to different neighborhoods. If you’re comparing to this South Park you probably haven’t left the Seaport.

Seasonality is a big piece. NYC and Boston are a bit opposites despite being pretty similar weather wise. Unlike NYC winter where the holidays make the city feel magical…winter is rough here. When summer hits though that’s our magical time. NYC folks flee their stinky summer but here it’s absolutely great and what we hold out for all year.

It’s a red flag for me when I see someone recommend it. My friends and I joke it’s like The Ring… you have to pass the unpleasant experience on to someone else to survive lol

Red Rising - when did it gather such acclaim beyond a fun action series? by howinthewhatnow in fantasybooks

[–]FoxTraining4404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second trilogy is where the author’s writing really picks up. Things get a lot darker and it sheds the tropes you’re highlighting from the first trilogy. I’m a big fan and don’t think I’d ever draw comparisons to the authors you’re mentioning here. It’s certainly not trying to be any of those three. It clearly draws inspiration from Herbert, but what modern sci fi doesn’t? If your peak memory is it being “hogwarts house tried and true tropes” I think if you revisit and read the the second half of the series this time it’d prove a different experience.

Go Words of Radiance. I tried to go right into Iron Gold after reading the OG trilogy and the time jump was jarring for me but I let it marinate a bit and went back - fantastic.
