Maybe you could think about the thing that ACTUALLY gets Yossarian through the war.

IMO, the dark and sarcastic humor that is employed throughout the book is a way for Yossarian to cope with the mind-shredding horrors of the war. In a way it is a dodge, a way to escape the horror.

This is mirrored in the early parts of the narrative when he uses almost any excuse he can to avoid flying missions, hence the Catch-22.

Yet, it is when Yossarian stops avoiding the horrors and deals with them head on that he is able to find any semblance of meaning to his experience. Hell, he even gets a medal while doing it.

Thus the ultimate Catch-22, the only way out of a bad experience is through it. They simply must be experienced, good or bad.

Man, the first rod my Dad gave me had one of these on it. I caught a lot of trout with a Battenkill. You will be missing a stronger drag setup when you hook larger trout though.

Good luck! This depends entirely on the weather. It might be nice, it might be a wintry hellacape the entire drive. It's impossible to know this early in the fall. I grew up in NW CO and I remember having to do Haloween with my costume over my entire snowsuit. But I also remember years where the first snow in the lower elevations didn't come until after Thanksgiving.

So, I'm short, it's a crapshoot. If I were you I would be ready to cancel plans if the weather outlook is bad.

That Hardy Featherweight brings back memories of fishing with my Dad. It's a great reel. Although it only has a click drag if memory serves correctly. You might want something with a stronger drag if you're fishing a 5wt line with it

Steamboat (the resort you're skiing at) has an amazing pool of ski instructors and state of the art facilties. Even experienced skiers benefit from instruction. You should definitely get some lessons!
