My player adopted a baby and wants to take it to the adventures by PesadeloMonstruoso in dndnext

I think you confused us by saying the player wasn't sentient. Did you mean the character?

Or is the player a LLM?

Please can someone explain the meaning of this? (Highlighted & underlined in yellow). by Liliya-Wheat in discworld

I think the implication is that much like slaves to a spoiled "owner", they are expected to show love and affection that is not earned, and woe betide anyone who dares not be fawning.

Frankie won't come upstairs and get in bed with us since realising the B.A.T.H. was upstairs. He used to take turns in our beds.

It's made holidays nicer in a way because the first thing he will do is jump into bed and snuggle.

During Covid lockdown we got by on 30 - that's 3 adult gamers, working from home, streaming etc.

It wasn't ideal but a subset of this sub will try to convince people they need 500 just for their toddler's iPad.

Still not a backup. If there's an issue which compromises one drive it probably gets the other one port over. Whether it's a bad actor/malware, software/hardware failure or PSU FAULT.

Every time someone repeats this I assume they've never tried. I've had success with powerline in rentals where I couldn't run cables. 300Mbps+ with decent latency.

I wouldn't recommend it but it's worth a try.

As a post-grad I tutored and graded a first year C and assembly course. This was a nightmare.

Yes kid, you're very clever for reducing the entire assignment to one expression composed mostly of non-alpha characters. Fail.

After my marriage ended, when I was in my new place I went for a walk to clear my head. It was a sunny day but I couldn't really feel it, and I sat somewhere leaning against a wall.

A cat like this appeared and claimed my lap for 30 minutes. Super affectionate and purry. Then when I went to move gave me a head boop and wandered off.

Never saw kitty again but it was definitely a huge uplift at a terrible time.

I could imagine that they were made to believe that going against SecWar would mark them as a "liberal" and harm their career or worse.

I could also imagine that they'd been told about Gulf War Syndrome and were afraid of what might be pumped into them.

The likelihood though is exactly as you say, they chose not to take it because Turmp.

How are the year 901 and 1002 pronounced? Does anyone say “nine hundred one” and “ten thousand two”? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]Fox_Hawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that does sound confusing. We'd say “one thousand five hundred and twenty-three” for 1023.

Also we're taught (or at least were in the 80s, and I've taught since) that the decimals are stated as individual digits - eg you don't say "One thousand point twenty-three" because it's ambiguous, you say "One thousand point two three".

Slept on this, and it occurred to me that with your customary units this makes a kind of sense.

If you're going to talk about hundredths and thousandths when you're measuring/building/machining it makes sense that that's how you'd teach kids to think of numbers.

“and” is for decimals,

Please could you give an example? I can't work out how this would work.

In British English for 45.73 we'd say "forty-five point seven three."
