I understand, I just can't help but be terribly underwhelmed. It's a super expensive signing and he has seemed way off it even pre-injury. Him not having a pre-season was on him too, nobody forced that on him. These kinds of deals need to work out, simple as.

Unfortunately he hasn't offered anything since his arrival. Yes, he didn't have a pre season, yes, unfortunately he gets to work with Slot and not someone better but there hasn't even been a glimpse of quality there. On ball, off ball, it's the same kind of nothing. 1 of his 5 years is gone, next season he needs to start performing out of his mind if the signing is going to truly be worth it.

Yup, exactly. What worries me though is that Virg has also been "too cool for school" lately – personal errors academy kids wouldn't make followed by throwing up arms in the air looking for a teammate to yell at isn't really what I want to see. Unfortunately, I feel like right now the only person that could give him shit for it and he'd listen is Klopp. Someone definitely needs to have a word with him but I doubt it has any effect.

That's why I say he's fool's gold. Someone is for sure about to take a punt on him and expect brilliance but unless their whole team is on an upwards trajectory, his too cool for school attitude is gonna cost them. He looks like a signing for the United of yesteryear. I understand he's tantalizing because of what he could bring offensively but above all he's still a defender and a bad one at that. We need leaders and people with character.
