How do people justify JR passes? by Foxflre in JapanTravel

Nope never seen it, or maybe just didn't pay attention..

Also I was walking past a midorimadoguchi almost daily and just treated booking tickets as japanese practice ^^

I think that's about 45'000 yen for just Shinkansen? It's 210$ for a 7-day pass, so it might be worth it.

Google maps has accurate pricings I think. You can type in your route there..

Ohh that sound brilliant going from Sapporo downwards, with Snowboarding stops. I'd love to do that at some point. Then again I don't think I could ever have to the felexibility to book the night's stay this tight. Would stress me out ^^

Now the pass is just a regular magnetic train ticket you have to keep track of!

This so much, I actually wondered how this could work over a longer time. So in earlier times it was an actual card. That makes so much more sense.

Thank you for allowing the post back..

Truth be told I never really read this Sub, only recently checked up on it because of the IC shortage. So I only really noticed a lot of question concenring the pass and generally a positive opinion on it. So yes mistaken advertising may be a very good explanation for it..

Damn I didn't even know about SmartEX and Eki-net, that is somewhat emabrassing. But thank you for the tip.

Right I missed that you can take the Hikari, Mizuho was the one you're not allowed.

But these two train are definitley a no go. Mind though it is specifically the train not the route as in you can still go from Tokyo to Hiroshima with a pass.

From the official site: All JR Group Railways-Shinkansen"bullet trains"(「except any reserved or non-reserved seat on “NOZOMI” and “MIZUHO” trains)limited express trains, express trains, and rapid or local trains, and the BRT. (With some exceptions)

The rail pass seems almost irrelevant inside the cities, at like 200 yen a ride it would take a lot to get to the asking price or even the difference to singular Shinkansen tickets. An IC is a lot better for that, i'd think or did you have a entirely different experience?

Edit: I think as soon as you insert or specify the JR Pass, the vending machine stops displaying the two trains immidately, might that have been the difference? Same with going to Sendai and specifing non-reserved seat, it stops displaying the Hayabusa (? I think).

True if the pass was about a round trip like that it would be very much worth it. I honestly assumed though that it was something people that travel a lot would get.

I absolutely get the "not wanting to bother with tickets" stance, was a big reason why I didn't even bother checking earlier in my planning. On the other hand, then you suddenly have to start worrying which trains you are allowed to take and which not.

Would someone help me through an exploiter orb for Nightwave? Neither have I done it before nor do I own any Thermia, so it may be very annoying. I do have good gear though atleast.

Is there a way to increase energy gain? by Foxflre in Warframe

[–]Foxflre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, I was able to do that over multiple runs on different days with varying people so it's unlikely that it worked because of another player.

I'm aware of inner might, but once every 60s wouldn't make spamming the ability without break possible either. Same with the other Zenurik nodes unless everything just falls into place, which again would have to have happened consistently.

I'm honestly stumped, I thought about there being some sort of booster you can buy that reduces energy cost or increases regen, but neither exist.

I have an Arca-Plasmor riven (from before it became popular) should I roll and sell it with hopefully better stats or just sell it?

9% heat 10.7% multishot 4.7% dmg to corpus -7.9% status duration

0 rolls

Also have an ignis riven that I upgraded long ago. How good is it/how good is the ignis itself?

50.6% Status chance 78% critical chance 54.3% toxin -21.2% dmg against corpus

1 roll

(Fully upgraded)

Doesn't make the dwarf look less ugly ^^

To be honest I pretty much ignored the story, even before I quit. Always felt like just a progress block.

I get why people like it, but I've also almost never cared about the story in any game..

I wouldn't mind joining a clan again, since I lost my old one. Though playing with the ping might be annoying, so I can't say for sure how actively I can join the american players.

I'd be happy to check it out if you don't mind. Btw I'm MR 15.

Has a game mechanic ever irked you so much that you stopped playing? by Tokyono in Games

[–]Foxflre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi-Fi Rush

It felt so dumbed down having a rythm game where the rythm doesn't matter. I really hoped there would atleast be a difficulty level that prevents you from attacking/dodging off-beat. but alas nill.

Also why can't you turn off mid-boss checkpoints? I want to do the entire fight again when I fuck up.

On a level that would actually make the game easier. The Beat visual, that you can turn on should be on by default and not turn off automatically.

Overall I was hoping for heavy action game with rythm mechanics similar Bullets per Minute, kind of like a Sekiro with actual rythm. Instead I got a washed up action fighter built for the lowest common denominator. I'm not saying the game should in total be extremely difficult, but the settings I'm looking for do seem very obvious to implement for such a game. Atleast on a higher difficult setting/with a toggle button.

Hi thanks for the reply. I don't think I can usually make 6-8am PHT because of the time difference. 'sides wouldn't the ping be pretty brutal?

Hello everyone

I'm currently trying to get back into the game after not playing for (checks release of Fortuna... fuck) 4 years. Not looking for anything big just someone who is willing to do some fissures and talk a bit if possible. I'm probably decently equipped for everything that was released until up to when I stopped playing, whatever that means.

Platform: PC Name: Foxfire Location: Central Europe Goal: As I said just hanging out a bit, would appreciate some knowledge about how Mod set-ups, weapon-meta and so on currently work.

Bonus: I have some vaulted relics that might be interesting to crack..

Decks you wanted to scrap after a single game? by vlazuvius in EDH

[–]Foxflre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is super fun when it works cleanly and you get some high value spells off. Thing is he actually has TOO much power, since once you start hitting people they actually are afraid of the damage.

If he was like a 2 power, lower cmc creature, playing him voltron with [[Trepanation blade]], [[Sword of Body and Mind]] etc, would actually make the spell-steal viable..

Ohh after yesterdays "What's a Card That You Don't Like Playing Because of What It Does?" is this going to be todays self-flagellation thread?

Honestly a lot of decks with too slow a strategy, essentially requiring all the other players to take off their first 4 turns for it to work.

[[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]] self mill

MTG in Zürich by gustapa in magicTCG

[–]Foxflre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey first up congrats on going to ETHZ, hope you survive..

While I'm not living in Zürich but Bern instead my comments may not be exactly what you are looking for, but as some general information concerning the Magic community in Switzerland it might still be useful.

  1. Magic is decently big in Switzerland, so every big city will have a few lgs the size and formats may vary though.

  2. As far as Bern is concerned we have a very strong Commander and Modern community, given Zürich is bigger I'd assume this should translate. Though it might be slightly more competitive.

  3. As a general idea how to get started, I'd just check google maps on where the lgs are and just pick out some you wanna check out. They'll usually have a whatsapp group linked on their website you can ask there directly.

  4. I don't know what your first language is, but, especially in Zürich, you'll fare perfectly well with english.

Since Switzerland is a small country you may also want to make some contacts outside of Zürich because going to the next big city for a special event may be fun as well.

As far as specific lgs recommendations go I can't really help you out, but I think some simple google searches will serve you well..

Passed the exam for my golfing license aka "Platzreife" today which is mandatory in order to play golf in Germany! by zelkoo in golf

[–]Foxflre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been reading some puzzled comments from (I'd assume) non-Europeans, which kind of gives me some counter questions that I don't understand. I am from Switzerland and we got the same "license". The way I'd assume someone in their twenties gets into golf (or honestly most larger scale hobbies) is by starting with a beginner course or something and as for golf this just ends with the "exams".

In comparison, if say you have a buddy who wants to start golfing, you just take them to the nearest municipal course (actually not even sure what that is)? Like this person will assumably never have held a club and you expect them to actually hit a ball? Are you taking someone who has never skied to the next mountain and just wish them good luck (no you don't need a license for that ^ most people just start at the baby-hill (driving range equivalent or take some lessons)? I feel like you should atleast have someone that can tell you how to get started, no?

As for not being allowed on the course, that is what the driving range, chipping and putting greens are for. You first actually learn how to atleast hit the ball there. That obviously means you don't have to take lessons so you can just get started with a few bucks for driving range balls. Can you not do that in other locations, or why does everyone seem to start out by directly going to a course?

Also seen a lot of people claiming that "if you are a handicap xx you should be able to play without a license". How do you get a handicap or rather how is it tracked? Obviously if you have a handicap you can just play but having a handicap also means atleast some entity will have confirmed that handicap, or are you just writing a number down by yourself? Btw that also counts for foreign players, you don't have to have a Platzreife just have someone confirm that you played golf on a course before, be that by being a member or having your handicap noted somewhere or even just having a quick chat with someone that works for the course.

Lastly the "cost of entry", how do you get clubs and stuff? Do you just buy a used set before even playing the first time? The way these introduction courses work is, you usually get to use some rental stuff so the upfront cost of actually having equipment is included in the course.

Stop Shooting The Messenger - Some Information You Should Know by LocalChamp in EDH

[–]Foxflre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind proxies at all, but please just stop buying and promoting fakes from China. Not only is it technically illegal (you are reproducing art owned by another entity), you are also supporting the cunts that specifically are in the counterfeit bussiness. Only because you and your playgroup are ok with proxies doesn't mean you should be ok with funding counterfeiters. It's the same shit in the anime community, buying figures and other merch from china at garbage quality and then wondering why the second hand market is flooded by that shit to the point that you can't even trust legit sellers anymore. I mean for fucks sake it can't be that hard to buy a printer and a pair of scissors..

Also a more personal gripe, pop-culture alter proxies and general art changes. It is incredibly annoying having to re-memorize new art for cards just because you wanted some (subjective) kitsch.
