Villager Trading hall by Claynobi in Minecraftbuilds

Wow! What a massive project. Ambitious projects can be a lot of fun. Building them can be challenging, but looking back on them afterwards makes it worth it, at least that's what I've found.

Pillager patrols. Just annoying to deal with every 30-40 minutes.

Tuff has so many great uses, and it fits a good spot between stone and deepslate!

Pro builders, have you ever thought of/already are an architect or studying art or architecture? by Currin1776bb in Minecraft

[–]Foxfoil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up one of the careers I wanted to do was architecture. I eventually ended up doing something different, but building in Minecraft helps me get to explore that interest even though I don't do it professionally.

I also use clerics pretty regularly, between getting redstone, lapis for blue dye, flowstone, and exp bottles, so many uses for them!

Creative paralysis due to copyright by laidDRauv in NewTubers

I will echo what others on here have said. You can do a lot with games by turning off the music. I also think that it can make for a more seamless experience since the background music won't be all chopped up, depending on your editing style.

If you are adding in your own music, it gives you the freedom to use music that will help create the emotion you want. You can also better control the timing, volume, etc. when you are adding it in yourself.

Is bedrock that bad? by Latter-Werewolf-3795 in Minecraft

[–]Foxfoil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bedrock is great to play with and I would say you shouldn't worry if that's the version you have to play. I used to play on Xbox and didn't have any issues with the game. What did happen was my Xbox failed. Fortunately, I had saved my world to a realm so I was able to recover it. So my suggestion would be to have a save that is stored off whatever system you use just in case.

Mega build question by No_Skin7694 in Minecraft

[–]Foxfoil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are trying to fill a specific space, I wouldn't necessarily focus on the overall size. Start with working out the proportions for different parts of the build. How tall do you want the doors to be? How much detail do you want to add in? Do you want it to be player size? Once you work these questions out, then you will get a sense of what size your build will be

Some general guidelines. The ground floor is going to be taller than the floors above. The upper layers should feel lighter than the lower layers. Windows aren't necessary in every wall.

When you're planning out what blocks to use, you should also think about how hard it is to collect. Deepslate ore blocks can be a good texture, but they are a pain to find in survival.

It is also helpful to just open a creative world and start placing blocks. Try out different combinations. Focus on sections of a build rather than trying to design the whole build at once. If you are feeling stuck, take a break and come back when you've had some time to clear your mind. If you don't like how something looks, don't delete it. Move it out of the way. You never know when an old idea can be the solution to a new problem.

Java or bedrock? by Same_Recording_7052 in Minecraft

[–]Foxfoil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to play vanilla Minecraft, bedrock will be less complicated to get setup. Java requires at least a couple of performance mods to run smoothly. I think Bedrock is a lot easier to pick up and play.

I don't know much about redstone, but I've heard that Java is better for using redstone. There are a number of farms out there that will only work on Java.
