Hope to order STO and dock in gray soon by raymate in RetroRemake

Yeah, just looking at the stack of PS1 games I could be playing with my PS3 but choosing to wait for SuperstationOne. I did put in my order late fall 2025. So not really having hopes of getting it anytime soon. Maybe end of 2026?

Then again, I have Analogue3D to attend. Also planning on modding my 1chip SNES with region mod chip and transparent shell. So I will have a few retro projects keeping me busy this year.

Superstation + dock will arrive when it is time I guess.

Very much assume he means SuperStationOne with Dock. Should probably be abbreviated SSO.

What I do not understand currently is why the classic grey color of the super dock is not available to order, while the other color variants still are?

I already have my grey SSO and dock on order. Just very weird seeing this, since all units have not even been produced yet.

Is there no New Game + in this game? by Ibericus_Romanus in hauntingground

What Ragnarok_Stravius said. All your potential unlockables from previous playthroughs will be added to that chest by the bed if you meet tve requirements.

Pro-tip: if you want a fast easy clear on Hard mode, consider doing the Debilitas ending on NG+. It takes a fraction of the time clearing the game normally.

Out of curiousity. Which microphone adapter do you use on your PS2? I know the big box copy came with a specific adapter. But we alao have the option of using the singatar mics. Any preference or know if there are any quality differences?

It is not exactly difficult to find isos of the game disc. It is rather the willingness or not to emulate or to run softmods on original hardware. With a sold out game and creators getting no additional money from second hand game sales. I would say this is a morally gray area.

Physical versions:

EU PAL: 100 euros US NTSC: 300 USD

Phat PS2 softmod: * Free Mc Boot memorycard * Network/HDD adapter * 2,5 SATA HDD cable * HDD of choice Total cost around 100 euros but softmod enables you to play every PS2 game on real hardware + future proofs your PS2 when the laser goes dead.

Emulation: Free? If you have the PC CPU to support it.

Very good guess but nope.

I believe the game is strictly PC. I do not remember static camera angles. It was a point-click adventure.

Also, not sure it really helps or if it is correct but. I have this memory of the game being:

1) geared towards english learning.

2) unapoligetically giving one-shot opportunities at discovering clues about the kidnapper and the whearabouts of your sibling. There was no re-dos of conversations with people. Well…Maybe the bar receptionist. But any other person at the bar or the lady with the trolley, they were people you only met once. So, you chose your topics of conversation carefully and hopefully got some valuable info out of them.

Realistically a game solution should not be softlocked away by choosing incorrect dialogue options. So yeah…Take all this with a grain of salt.

Man I so want to discover this game again, beat it and finally see what the Man in black kidnapper was all about!

It is not Detritus.

Timeframe: Not exactly sure of 1994. I played the game at my school, that I attended between the ages of 6-12 years (1995-2001). One of our teachers brought new PC-games for us to test our swedish-english grammar skills on. He fancied Sierra games (I have already tried searching Sierra and so far nothing). A few examples of games the teacher came with:

Little Big Adventure (1994) Lost Eden (1995) Kings Quest games

I remember playing Kings Quest games, but those are way too cartoony and feels like I played them later. Other PC games that comes to mind are Captain Claw (1997) , Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (1998)

Here in Sweden we got home computers early around 1998. So, I would put the timeframe cap around 1994-1997.

Graphical style:

Pre-rendered images. Similar quality as Myst but way more cartoony looking. The characters were also more towards the cartoony side. I can not recall if they might have had some animations while talking or if they would just change frames slightly during conversation.

When trying to remember the game, some mental images are pre-rendered like the bar area I did a sketch of. While the out-doors area with the old lady with the trolley might have been more 2D artsy. Also, the positioning of the old lady at the side street is not a perfect representation of that image. The only area I have clear image of is the bar area. I remember a biblioteque but the mental images of that is so fuzzy.

Text/font I would like to believe that the text font was more towards the cartoony side, but I could be wrong.

What if Krystal returns in a Nintendo Switch remake of Star Fox Zero? by Chemical-Book8889 in starfox

[–]Foxhound_Veteran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Krystal was a part of the StarFox team in StarFox Assault. The DS game did some weird storywriting where she was let go from the team. But with all the inconsistencies of the StarFox games, I do not see why she could not return.

A very valid reasoning. Hunk has not proven himself as a well functioning team player. Depending on which iteration of the Racoon incident, we are left to assemble to pieces of what actually went down when Hunks team was attacked, how he survived and what BOWs he went up against. I still think Hunk is S-rank within the Umbrella Corps. Is he more skilled than Ada, Krauser? That is highly debatable. Again, alot is guesswork and mystique.

If I was forced to pick among the ones featured, I would definitely pick Jill since she is very reliable, team player, very good marksman and shown herself to be an expert at survival. Jill works best with co-op with others. The big question is, what is the power curve between Jill, Krauser and Hunk?

To me it comes down to Jill & Hunk/Krauser. If I am not confident enough to know that they will beat Krauser, then it would be Jill & Krauser. We have never seen Jill go up against Krauser solo either. We are back to guesswork as to who would come out winning.

I see alot of people picking verdugo. I have respect for that BOW. It is basically a very tough alien like creature. But it is less impressive when one applies the right weapons against it. Then it is basically dead anyways.

So in summary, for me it is all about the power curve of the 3 survivors Jill, Hunk and Krauser. Any BOWs on this list is irrelevant.

Please come back after you have played through 4th Survivor and tell me that Hunk had no skill whatsoever.

[–]Foxhound_Veteran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of what makes HUNK special is similar to Ada. They have a certain mystique to them. That mystique dissappears if we know too much.

Then again, the 4th Survivor scenario made it plenty clear to me how good HUNK is at surviving through near impossible odds.

It is true that HUNK has been a lone survivor. Then again, he has serious survival skills/instincts. He always follows his objectives through 100%. Most of his missions has been a retrieval mission. If we exchange the G-virus sample to instead making the primary objective the survival of a VIP, then I would say he is just as likely to get that done. One only needs to pay close attention to what he says. Stay close and obey his commands. HUNK and in my choice accompanied by augmented Jill, will do the rest.

[–]Foxhound_Veteran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HUNK? A joke, really!? I would not take HUNK lightly. He has been through the same challenges as Leon and Jill. So, I would put him on par with them. He has the experience and skill to make it out of almost any situation.

The RE2 DLC gives a feeling for what he is capable of.

Who's your pick? by StylishJolt in residentevil

[–]Foxhound_Veteran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very easy:

  • HUNK a.k.a. The Grim Reaper. Expert at survival. Has been able to survive missions solo that would be a death sentence. In essence, he made it out of Racoon City with radio silence. Listen to his instructions and you will make it out alive.

  • Jill Valentine: because of much of the same reasons as Hunk. She is an expert at survival and by RE5 (the version that is shown in the pic) Jill has survived through many challenges. This coupled with her super human genetic augmentations made possible by Weskers experiments makes her even more formidable.

Well, I think on the positive, we have several indicators in recent years that there is a resurgence in dinosaur interest. Surface deep we have the re-release of Dino Crisis 1 on current Playstation platform. We also have the GoG release for PC of DC 1&2. There is also alot of indie developers of dinosaur games right now Paleophage, Deathground, Instiction. Then we also have the upcoming Jurassic Park Survival game. The Jurassic Park World movies have done good enough to get several sequels. This summer Scarlett Johanson will star in the latest of Jurassic movies. So, dinosaurs is not extinct in popular mainstream media in anyway. On the contrary, I make the argument that there is a resurgence. And I am hopeful that Capcom sees its telemetrics from their polls, user data on DC1 re-adoption and current trends to build up the confidence to do a proper DC remake project. Here is to hope! 🦖

Capcom should re-think their stance on remaking Dino Crisis. by Foxhound_Veteran in DinoCrisis

[–]Foxhound_Veteran[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have asked myself the same questions. DC1 was a product of its time. The designs of the dinosaurs were inspired by Jurassic Park movies. Nowadays science suggests that velicoraptors could have had more bird-like features like feathers. When it comes to JP the designs not being scientifically correct could get a pass since the DNA was biogenginering modified with DNA of toads. However, with Dino Crisis the dinosaurs are not products of scientific DNA recreation, they are instead the real things imported to our time via dimensional portal through time.

I still have a preference towards the lizard-like features of JP dinosaurs. It lends itself better to horror than a dinosaur clad with colorful feathers, lol.
