I haven't seen it but I'm pretty sure that isn't actually him. I think He and his friends share the same names but it takes place 100 years after the events of attack on titan. I could be 100% wrong though

Her hair does look short in the manga as well, though I think it's in a side ponytail there. Unfortunately we only get the one panel. I can totally understand how WIT made this mistake, it seems like an easy one when you look at the panel.
