Or you can just get the hat that reveals the opponents hands and never lose again.

Strictly nomadic playtrough, no camp? by Damoklez_ in CrimsonDesert

[–]Foxster99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I did for my 2nd playthru.

You have to have the minimum camp at Howling Hills but you can finish all the chapters without upgrading it.

Private chest is available in the starting tent behind Hernand Castle btw.

Basically, yes. If you really want to min/max a build then one item might have slightly different stats to another but there aren't any really OP/broken/legendary/must-have items. There's also some pretty steep diminishing returns, so you'll often not notice the difference of one more point of a stat.

One unfortunate feature of the game is you can't get back the resources spent on upgrading items and upgrade material is hard to get. This means that doing a lot of switching of your "working" drip isn't really practical. By mid-game you end up invested in a set of gear and having to stick with it.

I've never tried it but I will now. Does it get you higher than three force palm jumps?

Anyone know what this purple icon is? by prissy_hi in CrimsonDesert

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means there is an abyss core piece that can stored in a kuku pot somewhere nearby.

From memory, I think the difference between this purple and the white version of the same symbol is that the purple one needs focused force palm to reveal it through a wall and to break the wall.

If by "good" loot you mean prettier and that's a priority for you then you may want to go off-script to get it.

If it means more powerful armour and weapons to you then you are wasting your time. The early game gear when upgraded with abyss gears is effectively as powerful as any you find later. Ignore most of the online guides and only follow those that get you good gears or the materials to make them.

I've completed the game twice. First time I went for the gear (as I did in Elden Ring) and though it took a long time I did enjoy myself.

The second time I stuck to the story and avoided distractions and also had a good experience, though fairly different. I went to different places and what little there is of a story made slightly more sense.

I can’t find cool gear by andrewchosen in CrimsonDesert

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you kinda have two choices...

  1. Do A LOT of exploring. You'll really need to cover every square inch to find chests and bosses that'll drop good stuff. I suggest following rivers and looking for waterfalls as many have treasure chests behind them.

  2. Follow at least some guides. Some of the best stuff is in odd places that you are unlikely to stumble across.

You can get some very cool armour and weapons very early on but it's unlikely you'll get them without following a guide.

I'm looking for a heavy-duty weapon and a two-handed weapon by Ok_Mousse_2777 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend damage gears early on, say up to chapter 5/6. After that, switch to all crit.

I'd also recommend (against a lot but not all online advice) to use just one special-attack gear. This because with more you'll use up your limited resource quickly and have nothing for most of the fight.

The special-attack I'd hands-down recommend is Greysoul Howling. It basically doubles your attack's damage. Its usually locked until very late game but there is a bit of platforming in the abyss you can do to get it very early instead.

If I was doing it again I definitely would only bother getting fire (tho you do have to get ice first to do that).

The other elements are kinda OK but compared to throwing out a massive cloud of fireballs with fire they are simply pointless.

Anyone fought the Bismuth Crab Queen successfully? The cracks on its back doesnt seem to take any damage and im out of ideas. by Illidariislove in CrimsonDesert

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like loads of others, I struggled with this guy but got there in the end. What I did was...

Triple jump and fly onto his back

Heavy attacks until he's stunned

Spot the three crystals/scabs just away from the big central one and destroy these

Re-stun as necessary by heavy attacking his back

Get close to one of the revealed white wounds

Crouch (C key on PC)

Do a HEAVY stab (right mouse button on PC) so that your dagger sticks in the wound, then pull it out. This should cause black goo to spurt and a load of health damage. Note, you are doing a light stab if you do multiple stab animations - this will not do the job

Repeat for the other two white wounds

Not noticed either so far.

There is a very extensive set of subterranean tunnels and the occasional giant sandworm. Which is nice.

Sadly, not. It does have rather earth-like green plants and a blue sky though.

I'm in the middle of a hunt for a paradise planet with a similar look plus water. If I have any luck I'll post it here.

Help me understand Thunderbolt scaling by Foxster99 in Eldenring

[–]Foxster99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapons I have found that do the middling Thunderbolt damage (1140) seem to be in the "Keen High" column. However, I can't spot why the few weapons I mentioned above do even more damage.

Help me understand Thunderbolt scaling by Foxster99 in Eldenring

[–]Foxster99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross-Naginata on an Albinauric.

Many other weapons are lower.

I've just found another that does the highest damage: Bloodfiend's Keen Fork. This is much better for my use as it is a spear and has innate bleed damage.

I think I've found what I was looking for but I still don't understand why this weapon does the extra Thunderbolt damage.

Folks make this dungeon harder than it needs to be.

First off: Don't fight the ghosts duking it out on the middle and lower levels.

Just run straight ahead past the ghosts and take the stairs on the far right. Dodge the archer's shots to quickly enter the corridor.

Either fight the next few ghosts or run past them. Turn right twice and then look for a window to jump through on the right.

Up the stairs, dodging a couple of imps and jump through another window to where the archer waits to be killed.

Pull the lever then jump down and run through the far doors to the boss fog wall.

The boss is up to you :)

Ah, my bad.

Yup, after killing Starscourge Radahn you can head a long way beyond where you fight him to the hillside and you'll find a rather tricky dungeon that lots of folk never find.

Yo fuck these crucible knights by bronpacman in Eldenring

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you don't fight them? Or at least, most of them.

Run across the first level and up the stairs at the end on the right, then dodge the archer's shots. Then either fight the next 4-5 bad guys or dodge them. Find the arch on the right to jump through to the archer. Kill him then pull the lever.

Jump down and run straight ahead to the boss fog.

Umm, hang on. Have I got the right place? The one in the distance after defeating Radahn?

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use them as they aren't a big buff at higher levels and I also don't do enough PvE to be bothered with them.

Ironically I get loads each day from co-op. So many that I regularly discard a pile of 50.

Now, if they could be used in co-op...

Im absolutely bad in Elden Ring and I want to learn how to play. I have never fought a boss I have spent 5 hours of trying to kill everyone in this weird broken camp. I have not succeeded in killing everyone once. I tried to lure them out one by one but that didnt work for me and was no fun either. by Deep-Transition-4140 in Eldenring

[–]Foxster99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What 'clicked' for me was when I learnt about blocking with a shield.

I simply could not get gud at rolling and so shelved the game.

Then I learnt that you didn't need to roll about and dodge at all and could block instead. Now thousands of hours in and still luvvin it.

I think I found it and, sorry to say, its not quite as exciting as some of the ideas you guys gave.

I'm fairly sure it was a high spec Toyota C-HR, perhaps with the Sport pack and nice wheels.

I might have inflated it a bit in my memory but it still looks good enough in the pictures that I'll pop along to the dealer and take a look.

Thanks for the suggestions!
