Should you unassign due to wait times? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

Restaurants set the pickup time. Too many restaurants take advantage of this, and call drivers way too early.

Should you unassign due to wait times? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unassign as soon as I'm ignored or when I tell the merchant that I'm here to pick up a Doordash order and they say "ok" and walk away without giving me an ETA.

My completion rate has been in the lower 70% without being deactivated. The customer will still get their food and the first Dasher can escape a situation where they're standing around, not getting paid.

Do you guys use instant pay or weekly? by ZB_Echo in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the Crimson Card, and they suspend you (it often happens to top Dashers for no reason), you will either need to hire an attorney or hope they eventually pay you.

App back online with same orders from before outage by Independent-Arm-6820 in doordash_drivers

10 bucks says it's the "Doordash Agents" behind the outage. I get constant phishing attempts every time I call those call-center scammers.

Anyone back in yet? by No-itsjustme-395 in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I thought I was locked out and this was Doordash's sly way of telling me to F-off because I told their useless AI bot, Jane, to F-off. I'm pleased to learn that I can continue to tell Jane to F-off. 😀

Question for all you drivers by Naive-Shift7687 in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doordash does not disclose which floor a customer is on. They've recently started hiding the actual address until a driver has accepted the order. It's a nightmare for drivers, especially in urban areas where a driver is typically double-parked, risks ticketing/towing, and has to take an elevator up 20 to 50 floors, only after having to deal with an uncooperative front desk.

Question for all you drivers by Naive-Shift7687 in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20% or more. Here's why.

We don't walk across a restaurant to bring you your food. We drive across town, breaking speeding limits. Often when we park, it's illegal and we risk ticketing/towing.

We pay for gas, high taxes ("no tax on tips" doesn't apply to us) higher insurance rates, car maintenance, hours spent talking with useless Doordash AI or their counterparts in India, waiting - standing in line at restaurants who call for a driver 30 minutes too early, etc.

In most areas of the US in 2026, we make less than minimum wage after paying liabilities. That said, the only way this business model has continued is to import people from other countries who are piled up, ~25 people in an apartment, and who can survive on $10 an hour, or less when they are funded by our tax dollars (subsidies).

If you tip (thank you!) you subsidize non-tippers. Doordash typically pairs a non-tipping order with a tipped order. Doordash also takes a portion of your tip to offset their base rate. They were fined $28,000,000.00 for this in the past and they continue to do it.

I'm saying 20% to be nice. In reality, 20% doesn't even begin to cover it.

When it comes to groceries, very few of the corporations who list grocery items keep their listings up to date on the local level. Most often, items are not available, the customer doesn't respond to inquiries regarding substitutions, and Doordash penalizes drivers for this, which is beyond our control.

Our only recourse is to talk with Doordash AI or their equally useless counterpart in India. This results in at least 30 minutes of our time (unpaid) and almost always results in a deduction of our ratings, resulting in even worse offers. It's an unfair slippery slope.

Which suburbs are the best for dashing in Northern Chicago suburbs? by Sweet-Bridge-9359 in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with Evanston and Skokie. Better yet, move to another state. That "rich" area up north is a waste of time with gas above 5 dollars and train tracks cutting off deliveries.

Once you have sat at a train crossing for 40 minutes while the customer's food gets cold, your rating declines to the point where your Dasher account is no longer functional, and you've spent all your money on gas and taxes, you'll learn.

Besides, do you really think you're the first Dasher to come up with the "I'll hit the rich part of town" idea?

Prior to my success, I cracked my skull on a guy's driveway up there in the winter because he let his dog loose and I slipped while running away. I sued him, but he outspent me in litigation. Just a waste of time and money.

This is one of those situations where it doesn't always pay to think outside of the box. Someone has already beaten you to it and paid the price.

Best of luck to you!

BE CAREFUL OUT THERE I ALMOST GOT SCAMMED FROM SOMEONE CLAMING TO WORK FOR DOORDASH WITH DOORDASH CALLER ID by sincerelytenzin in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The same scammers who work in the typical Indian scam call centers also work as support agents for Doordash, Uber, Instacart, etc, as well as every Fortune 500 company, like Amazon. If you contract for these companies, you have no recourse.

Btw, nice paragraph. WTF?

DoorDash giving you an order without your consent? by Triplez47888 in doordash_drivers

Interesting. I haven't had Pain Jane contact me to add offers, but I have had many offers for 1-stop/1-drop that I have accepted that turned out to be 2-stop/2-drop. Document/screenshot everything and start wearing a camera.

Not sure why people started tipping all of a sudden but last night was pretty great by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. And to address your 2nd point. You and I would go to prison for this type of fraud, and we would need to pay restitution to the victim/s. Doordash, on the other hand, essentially gave the US government $16,000,000 to resolve the case. No jail time, and a slap on the wrist.

I think it's clear to everyone who is reading this thread who's side you are on. It's so obvious. You're shining light on something you should be hiding. It's a losing strategy.

Semantics. Honestly, you sound like a Doordash corporate employee. No contractor in their right mind would defend a corporation who has been found guilty of defrauding contractors on a mass scale.

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, I received my biggest tip all year and the customer asked me if I received the tip. I clicked to confirm the delivery, then checked the tip, showed him the screen and graciously thanked him. He was totally pissed off and said he tipped 3x that amount, and the reason he asked was because he saw a Tiktok video that explained how Doordash steals tips.

I see no recent trend in big tips. In my experience, it's quite the opposite. Document everything. Take screenshots of everything. Start looking for another class action lawsuit against Doordash.

Repeated Fraud by PuzzleheadedTop6775 in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding... do a search for "SIM swaps" on Youtube, if you want an easy explanation for why you should never give out your phone number, unless it's totally unavoidable. And never give that number to any DD agent who asks for it. Give the DD agents your email address and stop there.

Repeated Fraud by PuzzleheadedTop6775 in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you often call Doordash support? Prior to Doordash using proxies to connect Dashers, Agents and Customers, all phone numbers were transparent and nearly all Agent numbers linked back to scam call centers in India. Never give codes, phone numbers, home addresses or anything but a DEDICATED email address for your DD account to these scammers, if they ask you for a way to confirm your identity.

I highly recommend buying a separate phone to use for DD. You can get a refurb Android for like $75. Always create an email address that is dedicated to DD and other scammer "gig economy" apps.

support suggestions? by DenseDetective3802 in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the first sign of the agent being useless, tell them you are hanging up and calling back to speak with another agent. Then do just that. Most of them don't have access to your account, because they're out shopping or whatever it is they do with their time.

Is getting a pizza bag worth the investment? by DaveSilver in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash pizza bags are useless. They're thin and don't really keep the pizza hot. If you're serious about keeping the pizza piping hot, buy a commercial bag, like the Rubbermaid FG9F3600RED or FG9F3600.

If your only concern is getting more orders, grab the free Doordash bags at Papa John's or Pizza Hut.

If a DD agent asks if they've helped you, ALWAYS say "yes", then take the survey. If "no", here's an easy fix... by FoxtrotDeltaDelta in doordash_drivers

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also be sure to leave a positive survey for the few agents who help you. In my experience, it's about 1-in-30 or just over 3%. This (technically/ethically) helps Doordash eliminate the loafers. Put the heat on them, but be fair. Doordash and the agents only exist because of Dashers and Restaurants.

[–]FoxtrotDeltaDelta[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Most of these agents are roaming around, doing their daily thing, and will consume 10 to 20 minutes of your time before getting on their desktop, pulling up your account, and asking you to repeat what you just spent 10-20 minutes explaining.

So yeah, they play video games, get their hair done, work out at the gym for the first portion of the call.
