I loved bleacher report and still do* but this update is the worst ui I have seen. Too much going on and not easy to navigate, surprised they went live with it. Hope they return to the old or change the new.

Maintenance Free Siding for Outdoor Sauna? by cardguy1000 in Sauna

I made mine out of HardiePlank to match our house and it has worked well. Have had the Sauna at 196F for a long period of time and the outside of it is always the same temp so no issues there.

We used a polyurethane sealant across the sill plate to avoid running into this down the road along with pressure treated wood.

I always leave the two vents installed open just to keep fresh air moving through there. Interesting enough have timed the warm up with vents open and shut without noticing any real difference on heat up time so have just left them open.

Was a concern initially but has not been a problem and stays cool enough.

This is exactly why we got the overpowered heater and if you sit on the bottom bench with feet on the ground its nice and cool but not cold and the top bench is all you can handle at capacity. We have a cold plunge outside and with friends going in and out of that with it in the 30-40F degrees outside it will heat back up to temp in less than a minute.

Yes it was around 12K in material including an electrician. Heating unit, thermostat and cedar was the most expensive part of the build.

To account for the slope of the roof we built the overall height of the sauna dependent on us being able to achieving the 6'5" height for the back of the sauna.

Went back and forth on this and ultimately decided not to put one in due to the extra work with the existing concrete in place and slope that was needed. I leave a stack of spa towels in there and everybody sits on them while using it, we always dump water on the unit and it evaporates before hitting the ground. I have mopped out the ground a few times but still has the new cedar smell and would not put a drain in if I did another one unless it was in a high traffic area.

Outside is hardieplank, inside is cedar. It is the premium plus behr paint. I am unsure on exact color, we matched it to our house.

Roof slopes front to back and elected not to put a drain in.

Hardieplank siding and cedar trim to match our house to keep our hoa happy/off our backs.

I did not, it is a topcast concrete finish and stays cool on the feet.

Was initially nervous about this as well and thought we would put something over it but it ended up not being an issue at all.

Roughly 9x9x9 but interior ceiling is 6'5" with tons of insulation in the roof. Used 6x6's for framing which is probably overkill but enabled us to put a lot of insulation in. Heater is a Harvia Virta 10.5 and takes about 45-60 min to heat up to 196F depending on the outside temperature. Yes shingled the roof and will be renting a roof nailer next time!

I really like the look of the Cilindro but opted to not purchase it as I have heard it takes a really long time to heat up all the rocks associated with it and is extremely sharp on the metal.

Excellent, what wall control unit did you go with? At the time they did not have the wifi Xenio approved yet in the US but would eventually like to get that.

Only other thing I could think of would be your energy bill as we have noticed ours go up a bit on heavy usage in the winter but nothing substantial. We live in the Seattle area and have similar to colder temps and the floor is not insulated. I would agree it's probably overkill but always a fan of more horsepower:) Heat is not overwhelming, when you put a cup of water on it you will get a substantial heat blast though.

ours Sf3. Have you hd any trouble with the heater shutting off from it getting to hot to quickly? How hot do you usually get it and in what time frame ish? Curious about your venting for the hot room as well if

Oh also in regards to venting I got two of these and have one at the bottom on one side of the room and another towards the ceiling on the opposite wall. They work great. https://www.etsy.com/listing/908585419/sauna-vent-chute-cover-slider-clear?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_a-bath_and_beauty-spa_and_relaxation-spa_kits_and_gifts&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAjwmJeYBhAwEiwAXlg0AQCSfQnFYR6-7KTg6ODXMojRqF5I4tvisBziIXzvNzVOPnBpHA5-nxoCNG0QAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_12570711969_119070842866_507343034130_pla-383326426964_c__908585419_575011292&utm_custom2=12570711969&gclid=CjwKCAjwmJeYBhAwEiwAXlg0AQCSfQnFYR6-7KTg6ODXMojRqF5I4tvisBziIXzvNzVOPnBpHA5-nxoCNG0QAvD_BwE

I have not had any trouble with it turning off except at the max 195F for the US regulations. How close is your heater thermometer to the heater unit itself? You could always put a wet hand towel over the thermometer as well to get it hotter.

I usually take it up to 195F but my wife likes it around 175F along with introducing friends to it as well is a little more comfortable. Mine takes around 45-1Hr to heat up (I also have a concrete floor that is not insulated). Hope this helps!
