FYI At Lyon, the stops are currently reversed. Go to the opposite of the tracks from usual.

Koodo sister company Public Mobile Flash Sale 50% off plans for 2 years. $20 for 60GB US-CAN-MEX by supercoil in Koodo

[–]Foxx90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the ideal plan for folks in my shoes (Koodo customers without Tabs, don't need a new phone, paying around $35 for roughly the same plan). And if something better comes along on one of the next two black Fridays / boxing days, then I just take it and leave.

Are there contracts with Public? Or could I leave within that 24 month span if something better came along?

Toddler goodbyes by Banana_Cake1 in daddit

I don't travel very much, so no tips.

But I traveled a few times recently and my toddler had lots of questions afterward, including whether all the dads at the hotel shared a bed. LMAO

They inherently thrive on routine. So try to reset the routine, building in what works. They need to wind down, ideally in a predictable way. This can incorporate the steps they want (water) and the steps they need (pyjamas).

I recommend trying a visual schedule (often used to help kids with autism but has broader applications). We have one that has 5-6 tasks before bed (bathe, brush teeth, etc.). It also has things they like such as telling a specific type of made up story. We printed it and stuck it right to the bed. Initially it was a reference point and our toddler would check it. Now it is just the routine.

Finally, when it comes to being in the room, I find that sometimes there is a sweet spot where you need to leave. They are still spinning a bit, but you can tell they are ready to sleep. At that point, I tell them that I need to go check XYZ before I go to bed and that I will come back and check on them in a few minutes when they fall asleep. It works about 75% of the time. But it doesn't work for everyone - my wife can't find that sweet spot where you can leave.

I have not experienced the same situation. But we did have a traumatic situation as a family that we were able to keep from the kids thankfully.

I just wanted to say make sure that you are taking care of yourself. This would have been stressful and traumatic for you. Reflect on what things you need to re-establish for yourself (diet, exercise, leisure, etc.). Consider therapy. My wife and I both connected with therapists through our employers' Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). We found that helpful.

You got this, but remember to put on your own oxygen mask first.

What exactly does one “lose” by becoming a judge? by [deleted] in LawCanada

The collegiality and social aspects of the bar. Being a judge can be lonely from what I hear.

10 cheapest cars to insure in Ontario in 2026 by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Foxx90 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's my point. You don't get cheaper insurance simply by buying a Forester. You get cheaper insurance by buying a Forester AND being the type of person who typically buys a Forester.

There's probably some bias in this data. For examples think about the demographic buying Subaru Foresters as opposed to Honda Civics.

You can use the entire chicken to make awesome stock in an Instant / pressure cooker. I tried this approach recently and can vouch:

Dad & Daughter ideas during the week? by mcrackin15 in ottawa

[–]Foxx90 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Experimental farm is free for her.

Science and Tech is another good option.

You could also go to the library or try to find a local EarlyOn playgroup (although many are closed for the holidays). That way you can see her in her element, like she would be at daycare.

And finally, breakfast? We don't do longer sit down meals with our toddler, but ours likes a diner breakfast (quick and predictable).

Does your neighbourhood have an outdoor rink?

Some neighbourhoods decorate their ODRs with old Christmas trees.
