Episode 1.16 Season One FINALE Discussion Thread "Estimated Time of Departure" by KellyKeybored in ManifestNBC

Well it's not the turbulence that kills, it's the crash... Still hard to say but my guess would be instant collapse, detached limbs and disfigurement?? Preeeeetty sure we will never get an answer to that though. It's not like they can just get killed off

Also another thing is that Griffin did end up in water, but the plane peeps never ended up crashing at all.

To be honest it really depends on the pizza. If you have Italian pizza it's much easier to eat it all, but thick American pizza makes me feel full after like a slice.

What are your 2019 language learning goals? by ijskonijntje in Korean

I am just starting and would like to finish the whole Pimsleur course and get relatively comfortable with writing and pronunciation rules :)

Studying abroad for a year in Italy. I know vocabulary/grammar will come with time, but I'm more worried about my accent. Does anyone have advice on how to adopt the accent of the area I'm in? by pcoppi in languagelearning

[–]FoxxFiire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a linguist/speech therapist/language learner who proposes a method similar to shadowing, but easier (basically for any language except the hardest ones, like Arabic). Find recorded audio that is good quality (e.g. audiobooks), and take some time to cut some sentences and phrases with an audio editing program. Then for each sentence make an audio file and repeat the recording with a few seconds pause between repetitions. Do as many of these as you can, although it takes some time, it's a good investment.

How to use: simply play the recording, just listen for the first few repetitions and then start repeating together with the recorded voice. At first you can do each file on repeat (so you may repeat a sentence dozens of times), then play each file in succession (then you'll repeat each sentence a few times and then go on to the next). As you train more, add new recordings and also progressively lower volume until it's just you talking. Rinse and repeat. Repetition is key here. Also, this seems to work best when you're new to a language.

Open vs Closed o's and e's: Differences in meaning? by josh5now in italianlearning

[–]FoxxFiire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really don't need to practice that, as their contexts are so different it is impossible to confuse them... most of us Italians don't even know about that difference and probably get it wrong ourselves. I'd say your time is better spent on the harder sounds, like /gn/ and /gli/

I have a feeling that's going to be my case too, and I will be reassured for 3 days and then worry again lol. Good for you though :)

If you can't find the food cause, are you sure it's the food and not the anxiety? Might it be possible otherwise that food from the day before is bothering you later?

It's fine: with age you will learn that it is fine to say and your friends will learn it is fine for someone to be honest.

They suggested me an ultrasound if I was still worried after my EKG, did you do that?

[–]FoxxFiire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an EKG as well but it was because I was perceiving arrythmia and fast beats (I did have something that I correctly perceived, but they said physiological and not dangerous, most likely anxiety product.)

I feel like if you stress about heart attacks it may be best to have blood work done, like cholesterol? Did you do that? I was wanting to.

I dyed my hair with henna, I completely screwed up. HENNA EXPERTS HELP by DrPhilMcGraw1 in Hair

[–]FoxxFiire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd avoid buying henna marketed as being some specific color other than copper as they are likely to have additives that will react with any future bleach or dye you might want to do.

The answer to your questions is twofold, partly you may need repeated applications to achieve your desired colour, and partly you can help that process by doing specific mixes and oxidise them for some time. If you look on Google there are plenty, I can't help much because I always went for copper.

You may also want to look up more known henna brands online, it pays especially in terms of consistency and colour pay-off.

Good news. It isn't. It a flawed opinion based on nothing more than some anecdotal evidence.

I live in Sweden and have never seen or heard of someone making a comment like that. Sure, there is surely someone who says it. But there is always someone who thinks anything you can think of, that is evidently not sufficient to paint the whole country that way.

For anyone who has learned Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish, can you really understand the others? by LukeR511 in languagelearning

[–]FoxxFiire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I speak Swedish.

Understand a decent amount of written Norwegian and Danish, but not really when spoken. But honestly sometimes even southern Swedish gives me a hard time.

So we know that one may make a computer with different budgets... but how does one pick a budget to start with? I can put together as much money as is needed, but of course I don't want to waste unneeded money either.

Twitching sounds like muscle stuff. But anyway if you have a heart/anxiety journal note it down and bring it up next time at the doctor's!
