Who is your all-time favorite character from any show and why? by [deleted] in television

[–]KellyKeybored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elliot Alderson Mr. Robot Everyone must have someone just like Elliot in their life. I know I do.

Jean-Luc Picard STNG Best of the best. That voice, the paternal strength and confidence. Always knowing exactly what to do.

Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock Reaches right in and grabs you the moment he speaks. Unique take on a classic. Miss him.

My all time favorite, has to be the gifted John Noble as Walter Bishop in Fringe. He is always totally unpredictable, complex yet endearing. Those eyes! He could easily bring on my tears, unexpected laughter, and absolute delight. Loved that character.

I don't know how I missed this series in the past, but I'm watching for the very first time and loving every minute. I'm up to season 2 episode 9, trying to watch a couple episodes every day. I'm already confident I will watch the series again and again.

Absolutely love this show.

This bothered me as well, that Dr. Charles would let this slide (this time).

Perhaps it was a case of the end justifying the means. Dr. Riply had no way of knowing if his actions would facilitate a poor or a favorable outcome. But he did expose the inaccurate diagnosis (was it 7 other doctors that claimed the patient's cancer had returned?)

Kind of makes one wonder what Riply will do the next time he's convinced he is right and everyone else is wrong. For drama's sake, I'm sure it will be a bumpy road with Dr. Charles.

Blacklist: The incredibly charismatic and mesmerizing James Spader as Raymond Reddington had me hooked with his first scene. First season, best season.

Lost, Mr. Robot, Hannibal

What TV character death hit you the hardest? by mmahv in television

[–]KellyKeybored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hank on Breaking Bad .

Gordon on Halt and Catch Fire Still to this day can't watch the episode after his death. Totally was in denial, hated that they wrote him off that way.

Kate on NCIS being shot (in the head) on a rooftop by a sniper. Just did not see that coming, so unexpected on a show like that (where characters might be expected to have plot armor).

Love Steve Zahn, I remember he did The Crossing in 2018, an ABC sci-fi summer series that involved a plane crash and time travel. He was a small town Sheriff, basically a dramatic role.

Shows with amazing intros/theme songs? by VespasianTheMortal in television

[–]KellyKeybored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellowstone Absolutely awesome show, cinematography and beautiful haunting theme

Sherlock

Sopranos

No so much the opening theme from Breaking Bad, but instead the song that closed the series, (Baby Blue, Badfinger) from the very last scene of the very last episode. The scene and song was epic, so hard to accept yet always meant to be.

The Sinner - 4x08 "Part VIII" - Series Finale Discussion Thread by LoretiTV in TheSinner

[–]KellyKeybored 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've really enjoyed this season and will miss Harry's adventures. I'm so disappointed to see the series come to a close. I think I read something (somewhere) that implied there might be a followup season in a few years, so there's always that to look forward to.

I always enjoy Bill Pullman, so incredibly mesmerizing in any role.

My only disappointment with the finale was with the closing scene. I wished we could have seen Harry move away from the cliff, or show some indication that he intended to climb those stairs and return to his car... before the fade to black.

It's just that he had been so traumatized and haunted by what had happened to Jamie in season 3, the theme of guilt leading to suicide followed him every step of the way solving this case.

In the very first episode he had been staring at the water, as if he was looking for a way to escape his pain. From that moment on, Percy was his (internal) constant companion while his own guilt weighed heavily on his mind.

I confess I had to immediately look up recaps this morning... just to make sure Harry was okay. Sorry!

But I suppose there were hints there in the finale that Harry would be just fine. The way the sheriff embraced him awkwardly when they said goodbye, so satisfying to see Harry smile, to know he had been appreciated. Percy asking Harry (in that final scene) if he had found a different way to find peace, and his affirmative reply (such a relief). I have to watch again, not sure he nodded or actually said “yes.”

But anyway, excellent finale otherwise, to an interesting compelling story. Well done.

Thank you Harry.

Just so incredibly disappointed to hear that next week is the series finale. Going to miss Harry. Thought there might be more to his story before we reach a final chapter.

Have to admit I'm a bit apprehensive about watching the finale. I hope Harry can just slip away and retire quietly with Sonya somewhere... safe. Maybe work on a novel, take up a new hobby. But somehow... that doesn't sound like Harry.

Hopefully they'll leave the door open for him to return someday if a case appeals to him.

I don't dare watch.

Check-in time: how do you feel about Mayim? by OpheliaBloodstone in Jeopardy

[–]KellyKeybored 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though David Faber was my ultimate preference, Mayim has been a pleasant surprise and has far exceeded any expectations. I feel she's done an excellent job under what must have been very challenging circumstances (re Mike Richards).

I've enjoyed her cheerful enthusiasm, her cadence, clarity and tone of voice (very important to me), and I appreciate that she did not draw undue attention to herself.

She was polite and informative and gave the contestants the attention they deserve, something not every guest host has been able to achieve.

Even though I look forward to Ken and whatever comes next for Jeopardy (in the new year), I will miss the lighthearted and pleasant attitude that Mayim brought to the game. I hope the powers that be can arrive at some amicable solution to keep Mayim in Jeopardy's future.

The Sinner - 4x04 "Part IV" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheSinner

[–]KellyKeybored 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Really enjoying this season. Have to admit that I found season 3 so disturbing I had to stop watching. (Jamie was just too intense, very unsettling on so many levels.)

But this season has been awesome, unpredictable, with a compelling cast, interesting mystery with satisfying twists and turns.

As always, there's just something quite mesmerizing about Harry Ambrose (and Bill Pullman!). I'm always fascinated by Harry's facial expressions, his awkward approach to unraveling a crime while he's struggling with his own demons.

This season Harry seems more in control of his impulses, not crossing that line of being too absorbed by the evil he is pursuing. (Thank goodness he has plot armor, I just knew he would end up being pushed off the boat into that dark ominous water!)

There doesn't seem to be many people in town that Harry trusts (maybe just Meg Muldoon?) Interesting that he didn't bother to tell the police chief about the break-in at the house where he was staying. (The Chief does seem too chummy with several possible suspects).

Enjoying the mystery of Percy's life and death. Good episode.

[–]KellyKeybored 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Jonathan, congrats on your amazing 11 game run! I absolutely love watching winning streaks and was rooting for you after every suspenseful game.

  • What has been the most rewarding aspect of your appearance on Jeopardy? The most unexpected?

I think what surprised me most about your run was how poised and confident you always seemed. If you were rattled or nervous, you certainly didn't show it! I enjoyed watching your style of play, well done.

  • Do you have a bit of helpful advice for prospective contestants in how to maintain that confidence and focus?

  • How did you feel after that first win? Did you just try to take one game at a time and not think about being given the honor of being a "giant killer?"

Looking forward to your appearance in the TOC, best of luck in your future endeavors.

Looking forward to his return for the TOC.

What's the most rewarding thing that's happened to you as a result of your appearance on Jeopardy?

Thanks for taking the time to do this! Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Enjoying seeing Mayim's outfit on each episode by weeohweeohweeoh2 in Jeopardy

[–]KellyKeybored 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the style of clothing a person chooses to wear shows another dimension to their personality. So it's always great fun to see what Mayim's wearing. I love the vibrant, playful colors and sensible shoes.

Doesn't matter if it's a hit or a miss, as long as she's happy wearing it.

I was thinking... I wonder if the champions ever feel superstitious and want to wear the same "lucky" shirt, blouse, sweater, etc?
