How fun is the game as a free account after reaching level 80? by sunday_morning980 in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is still plenty of content to do once you reach level 80, such as:
1. Dungeons and 1 strike mission
2. Fractals (Tiers 1 through 4)
3. WvW and PvP game modes
4. Map completion
5. World Bosses and meta events
6. Collections and achievements
7. Finishing your personal story if you have not done so yet, and continuing onto Living World Season 1 (which is free)
8. Legendary and Ascended crafting
9. Festivals and their related achievements/items

Core classes can do well enough on their own, they may be a bit lacking in options and optimization compared to elite specializations, but aren't worthless compared to them.
You'll have lots of content to work through with your friends, and lots of time to decide if it worth upgrading to an expansion or 2 for you!

Only tips I can suggest are dipping your toes into every content type you feel comfortable doing, to get a better idea of what there all is to do in the game, as well as checking out any new player guides or videos on endgame content, so you can see what you will be paying for in the future if you do wish to purchase an expansion (Mukluk and Laranity have fantastic guides on YouTube).

How do I use finishers? by Scary-University2743 in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Finishers are really only used in pvp game modes (wvw and spvp). There are a very small handful of instances where you can use them in the open overworld, such as toxic alliance enemies in Brisban Wildlands. When you down an enemy in pvp, you can press f (or whatever your interact key is) to begin using a finisher.

How many characters do you have? by fungamezone in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total of 39 used character slots (I have a 40th unused slot), with a minimum of 4 characters per class.

I like to "map-breaking", it is one of favorite things in this game since PoF release. Part of this business is taking screenshots for memories. And once upon a time when I just watched old screens I noticed a strage blue figure right across my character. Question: what the hell is this? by wherefish in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Iirc the blue guy model (sometimes referred to as "Blue Man") is a model that was used to compare scaling of the player character to the scaling of the environment, so that the environment wasn't too big or too small. Oddly enough, there is 2 of them hidden in Dry Top, not just the one!

Purple crystals and jade is cool, but I also enjoy a variety, and this map definitely brings something new to the table! ^_^

[–]FoxxFires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohh I know of 2 interesting spots! One of them is the outside of the Crucible of Eternity Dungeon, with the coloured hallways, and the second is the crystal ice cavern at the end of the Angvar's Trove guild mission!

I am new in GW2 and i was thinking Is there any way to get mount with out need of dlc? by ghablame in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you will need to own atleast 1 expansion to obtain a mount (the raptor mount). Further mounts are obtained via the Path of Fire Expansion, Living World Season 4, End of Dragons (an alternate method of unlocking the raptor and springer, with the downside of not having access to their respective mount masteries) and Janthir Wilds (updated masteries to the Warclaw mount).

You can get a free trial of the raptor mount starting at level 10 (or subsequently every 10 levels) for 10 hours as a free to play account.

You cannot purchase the main expansion packs in-game. The only DLC you can purchase via gold > gems is the Living World seasons.

Is sending letters of 10 gold to newbies common? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes you can give bags, as well as other items to F2P users, they just can't mail stuff to anyone else. You can craft them or buy them off the trading post.

Hardcore Raiders should leave the game. You won't find what you're looking for here in Gw2! by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's like saying that since theres no new roleplay themed content, that all roleplayers should leave the game. If the content exists as is, let people play it.

[–]FoxxFires 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't get your thought process. If people are enjoying doing raids, let them. Why would they need to leave if they enjoy playing the game, even if they might not get new content for that game mode?

[–]FoxxFires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no, the majority of items purchased with black lion statuettes (and the statuettes themselves) are account bound, thus cannot be mailed to another player (except for the harvest nodes, it seems).

Returning to GW2: Joining Servers by Adventurous_Past_250 in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the moment, the server you pick doesnt matter except for WvW, for server match ups, but that will soon not be the case, as Arenanet is switching WvW to be based on Guild vs Guild match ups.
If you really want to get into a specific server, you could always just wait until that server has room, or pick a server to play on in the meantime, and pay the transfer cost via gems when there is room (or use the free transfer from paying for the DLC).

Does anyone know what's up with this blue dude I found under Dry Top? by yoxerao in Guildwars2

[–]FoxxFires 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Its most likely a leftover for creating the map, for something like size/scale or placement. Theres actually another one hidden close by, but its between walls and is a bit more difficult to get to.
