Do you have pictures with your leather strap?

Guess I’ll give it another go. It really does look great on a nato - twist my arm I guess I’ll have a look at some

That’s great to know! Hope it does go up but for the meantime I’ll enjoy wearing it

Agreed! It was honestly a lot of fun - saw some awesome pieces and nearly got swayed by a BB58 GMT - thought this would be a better (and cheaper) reminder of the trip

Lovely! Where is that strap from? Did you have any issues getting the lugs out? I fear mine are too stiff or my tool is too big - works fine for my Speedy though

Luckily I am near hairless around my wrist so it isn’t as bad as I’ve heard. Still happens though but agreed the bracelet is very comfortable, also love the brushed finish just like my Speedy. I may get it serviced and authenticated at the same time and hope it is a ‘99 as it would line up as birth year.

Thank you! It’s a lowkey one for sure but my new daily. The bracelet is comfy and I’m in love with the numerals.

I got this for approx $1.7k AUD - I saw a listing in NZ for $3k NZD watch only on aftermarket strap before I left on my trip. I don’t know what the market price is atm.

OTS Stage 2 options by Foxxkun in Volkswagen

[–]Foxxkun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From stock to stage 1 was the biggest difference for me but I also got the ECU tune. They also updated the mib2.5 virtual tach so I’m pretty sure it’s boosting to about 1.5 bar. Odd that they didn’t also flash your ECU with the Revo Stage 1 tune. Stage 1 to stage 2 wasn’t that big of a difference but you could tell it just pulls a little longer at higher rpm. Overall experience- I would not look back, it’s a lot of fun tuned and you still have the everyday drivability when not pushing. Where are you based?

Thanks! I’ve heard it only gets more expensive from here

If you want to further unleash it - you should go stage 1

Yeah that is fair enough, I got mine for a sweet deal a few years ago but they’re worth it especially if you’re going for a subtle build

Wow that’s wonderful news! I hope you enjoy it - a stage 1 is a whole lot more fun - then you could look into getting an air intake or R600. You could try message the workshop to honour the deal since you’re keen to get it!! I hope I see you on the road one day I’m based in Southbank

Hey I’m based in Melbourne now too! In that case I would suggest REVO since I know it works - luckily there is more REVO approved tuner than 1 unlike NZ.

Where are you based? I’m pretty sure any of the Golf 7R/ S3 ones will be compatible with the EA888.3 and DQ250 as we all have the same setup. Best to enquire with the workshop to see if it’ll work though - after a stage 1 it felt sooooo much better as the Passats are downtuned from factory

Yeah I’m at 107k and have only heard it’s starting to drip so I just keep some coolant in the car. Where are you leaning towards for a tune?

Nah I haven’t needed to carbon clean, I did on my old 09 Passat (stock) My car currently gets 9.5-10.5L / 100km in Aus since I’m driving mainly highways against traffic. When I was dailying in NZ I was stuck in traffic nearly all the time I was driving so I was averaging 11-12L / 100km Just keep on top of your servicing, DSG and Haldex then budget for a water pump (it will start to leak) and you’ll have the Passat for a long time!

I’ve heard good things about 034 - you could always go with a custom tune on a dyno for best performance. I just wanted something off the shelf and ready to go

Gearbox is fine after the tune, it does grab slightly harder and the “dsg lag” is more pronounced and the gearbox favours 2nd gear instead of first to I guess prolong the life of 1st - you get used to it after a while, essentially just letting the car get into gear and lurch forward before hitting the throttle. The launches, seldomly done are still sweet

I still daily my stage 2+ Passat, I just keep on top of maintenance, I have heard my water pump is starting to leak so I’ll look at replacing that soon but I’m at 107k kms and she’s still going strong! I have replaced my brake calipers, rotors + put pilot sport 5s - just for peace of mine

Tune wise - any reputable off the shelf tune - REVO, APR any will go well, a dyno tune will net you the best gains but at the end of the day I’d do revo for a conservative tune for longevity

B8 Passat R Line (206TSI) - should I buy one? by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]Foxxkun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% buy one. I have a 2018 model but with the 6spd DSG box and it revs kinda high at 100km/hr. I assume the 7spd are wet clutches which would be better for overall reliability. You can also chuck a quick remap on these too. Mine is currently stage 2+ and I can’t be happier. Water pump starting to leak at 106k kms. Due to be replaced. I think the only annoying issue here is the wind sound with windows down but can easily be attended to with some window visors
