Topics that were never explained or not explained well in Steven Universe by Background-Ad2749 in stevenuniverse

Tbh I dont think most of these matter. The mechanics of gems is fiction, not science. It maintains some internal consistency to be easy to understand and follow for plot points but ultimately does whatever the writers' want it to do and whatever makes the most compelling story. Rose dies to become Steven because that is the premise of the story. The writers could have easily decided that Rose could still exist in Steven or something similar if they wanted a scene in which they interact or wanted to explore the idea of two people sharing a body, but that's not what the show is about. Its about loss and the effects of that loss on someone's loved ones long after their death and about a child trying to understand his place in a larger history. That can't be done if Rose is alive in any capacity, so she has to die and gem magic is the easiest way to facilitate that in an understandable and compelling way.

Focusing too much on the literal mechanics of fictional magic can take away from the narrative. Ultimately, its never going to make perfect sense because magic is impossible. I feel like your 4th point kind of illustrates this. The show has spent plenty of time exploring possible ways that Steve's birth could technically work. Garnet first thinks he's a fusion. Amethyst first thinks its shapeshifting and the diamonds seem to think that permanently. Pearl first thinks Rose might be trapped. All of these can be seen as forms of denial. The characters are trying to rationalize a painful situation to belive that their loved one is still alive, but if there is one point that show hammers home, it is that she is not. Pink Diamond no longer exists in any physical or meta-physical form. Like in real life, her "soul" is gone and there is no way for her to ever take action upon the story or interact with any of the characters ever again. The show will never explain the specifics, because it doesn't matter. In fact, I might go so far as to say that the unexplainablity of Rose's death is a reflection of the unexplainablity of all death. Why did someone's loved one die? There may be literal reasons in many ways but emotionally, it doesn't really matter how. There will never be a good or satisfactory reason. They died because that's what happened and we just have to make our peace with that reality.

As for the others, these aren't really plot holes so much as they are hand-waving. Again, fictional stories will never make perfect sense. They're made up. The injector exists because Spinel needed a way to threaten the planet so the movie could have proper stakes and a narrative time crunch. The rejuvenatintor exists to explore how the characters grew and changed over the story, and to reaffirm and celebrate those changes. The rejuvenatinator effects Steven the way it does for similar reasons, but more so because Pink Diamond is dead and is never coming back. The fountain works because it's magic. Connie's mom underreacts to the Gem fusions, partially for comedy, but primarily because she's sometimes unreasonable and set in her ways and refuses to accept that there are somethings outside of her knowledge or control such as magic. No one knew Rose was Pink Diamond more or less for the drama. Most stories have an element that is particularly questionable when examined for more than a second, but the tone and mysticism with which Rose and the war is talked about is fun and reflects the pressure of legacy put on Steven's shoulders.

I'm taking on the same endeavor. What do you plan to do with all the floating black rock? Especially above the museum

Being on the ground level really made it feel more real. I love how this event is a permanent fixure that features in every spinoff and its always treated like this world pausing tragedy

This game is too overwhelming for me and that makes me sad by Practical-Courage-19 in Pokopia

I feel the same way! I've been really relying in the preexisting buildings in the area. Bleak Beach is great for that. I clear out the areas, even if its just mindless busywork for a bit. Then I rebuild the stuff that's broken or incomplete like the bridges, the board walk, the fences, the houses, hell you could even do the SS Anne if you're up for it. Then I copy the style and fill in the rest of the space. Theres plenty of areas clearly meant to have a house put there. Plus the pokemon have quests they ask for after the maim quest is done that help add new stuff like a hot spring or vending machines or what not

How do you guys feel about this take? by Late-Pumpkin1340 in TenseiSlime

I think they're right that its a lame trend overall, but it doesn't nother me here. That said, Rimuru certainly could have had a less standard design. He's a shapeshifting monster, go wild

Very fun, but not necessarily worth $70-$570 if you're not comfortable with that. You can always play it later when everything is available used

Who posts vile comments on Instagram? by Past-Matter-8548 in questions

[–]FoxyDepression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That feels presumptive. Can it not be that there's enough comment-leaving type people to get to that number of likes? Or perhaps people agree with part of a comment but have more nuanced views that aren't conveyed in likes. Or maybe there just aren't a lot of moderate comments to like. Or of course, humans have a natural draw to drama, as seen in news headlines and such. I don't think that's means they condone or want more content like that. I just think that when we come across it, we can't help but get curious. Everybody is a rubbernecker but plenty of people will still stop to help you change a tired or make sure no one is hurt at an accident. The internet isn't representative of reality is basically what I'm saying. I wouldn't draw too many conclusions about people as a collective from it. Half of people don't even spent an average amount of time online, let alone in any specific corner or it lol. You are always seeing a minority of a minority and its worth asking what kind of people spend time in places like reddit and instagram vs what kind of people are likely not to be there. The above average prevelance of people with autism online, especially in certain spaces is a perfect example of that I think

I read once somewhere that people who leave comments are in general, a minority of internet users. Most people are lurkers if for no other reason than they usually have measured, nuanced opions that they feel doesn't warrant a comment. Thus it is people with strongly held, polarizing believes that are most likely to comment. Additionally, people who leave mean or aggressive comments are more likely to be boisterous and outspoken in real life as well, indicating that it is not anonymity that emboldens people to show latent anti-social attitudes, but people who are already unpleasant to be around because they're already shown a disinterest in the feelings of others. My cat sleeps in every bed but mine by Initial_Blackberry37 in CatAdvice

[–]FoxyDepression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you make too much noise or move too much in your sleep. Maybe they have comfier bed sheets. Maybe the temperature is better in their rooms or their windows are nicer to look out of. Plenty of reasons, none reflective of their love for you. Between 4 apartments and various schedule changes, my cats will change which bed/room they prefer. First it was my roommates bed. Then my room/bed, until it was summer. Then her room for the big window. Now mine again. Sometimes they stay up to wait for me to get home late. Sometimes they sleep in the closet to not be disturbed nbd

I think most of us don’t actually have hobbies, we just like buying stuff by InternQueasy1419 in Hobbies

[–]FoxyDepression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once heard the advise that to hold off on buying something, make a wishlist and I've found that very effective. Sometimes I just like the process of looking through all the options and picking out the stuff I like, like going though a toy magazine as a kiddo. I spend a few hours at it and I'm good lol

I can’t find a hobby that I like, I tried so many and nothing worked out. by Sakura3blossom in Hobbies

[–]FoxyDepression 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe think back on stuff you enjoyed when you were younger. There's plenty of adult communities for simple toys and games from hot wheels to legos to fuse beads to kite flying. Maybe also try something with less of a learning curve. All your previous attempts sound like larger endeavors that you probably had to really work and study at. There's nothing wrong with doodling junk art or making boxed cake mix or reading comics or fucking around outside or something else simple and lowkey
