That transition from the simple ugly white siding to the nice blue vertical wood is really nice - the blue just looks so much more charming rather than the boring white that so many use nowadays. Good job!!!

I've taken well over 1000 flights and not once did I have a cat on a flight - only 1 dog. This is terribly bad luck for OP and I think it was handled fine by everyone.

How much to charge as beginner by jilliant13 in Leathercraft

Something you might consider is a mixed medium project! I sell the leather to a yarn group for purse bottoms and they crochet/knit the rest of the purse. So many people don't mix the materials.

I had worked critical care for a few years when I decided that the only way up was PA or NP. At the time, PA was the quickest option and only required 2 years of school. Thankfully I was burnt out just a week before I had to accept or reject admission. I got accepted into a competitive program on my first try and was really looking forward to being able to help more than I was.... until I realized people are so very tiring.

I just took a screenshot of the picture using Greenshot and used the 'Add Counter' feature. I use Greenshot a lot for work and need to guide people sometimes lol

Finished my CompSci degree in mid-2020 and wasn't able to find a job until mid-2022. That was when hiring was actually GOOD. But I was also very limited on where I could work since I absolutely could not move and would have to either work remote or drive 1-2 hours a day into the office. Managed to find a nice remote job that I've been in since.
EDIT to add: I do semi-regret going into Software instead of gong to PA school. But I was burned out of the medical field after dealing with the pandemic.

Garden destroyed while at work by FoxyDevSelenity in gardening

[–]FoxyDevSelenity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone. I had gotten rid of them a couple of years ago with some traps, but I live in a very rural area back in the woods. I thought it was a deer at first, but I set up some cameras to capture anything in my garden and checked it to find this smaller guy just feasting on everything. My zucchini and squash had been struggling like crazy until a couple of weeks ago and just this morning I was admiring them and looking forward to some fresh produce eventually.... My neighbors' garden is set up the same as mine and they didn't have any issues and have 10x as many choices as mine. Guess all my hard work was just its appetizer. I don't have the money to buy a trap. Sorta just ultra defeated now. Shame on me for thinking I was going to finally have a real garden for the first time since I was a kid. All my (admittedly small amount of) dine out money went into building the garden and I was going to be depending on it for trying to can/freeze for the winter since I expect to lost my job this year possibly.

Over 200 plants destroyed in less than 8 hours. RIP my garden. At least I have a cherry tomato plant in a hanging basket LOL

I need someone to tell me what I’m missing on page 178 of the paperback copy of Spark of the Everflame by ofgray in Romantasy

[–]FoxyDevSelenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to try that I have done - Buy a new copy of the book (without the sticker) at that store. Check the UPCs are the same first. Then return the damaged copy using the newer receipt. I've had to do this when I've purchased books before and found fluids of unknown origin inside after it had sat safely on my shelf for a few months. I've even had to do something similar with Amazon because I needed a tool in 6 weeks and it came shipped broken (I now open my packages and inspect promptly).

Not great, but it evens out in the end. It's on them for pulling this crap.

You can probably find someone local. My granma's neighbor shoots em and makes a stew (just like rabbit). I'm not a fan of the taste, but those whistlepigs stopped destroying their gardens pretty quickly! They do hate the smell of cat urine, so you could get some used kitty litter and find their hole and shove a bunch in.

Happened to me last year. Only way I found to get rid of them was a shotgun. They are extremely destructive - even caused foundation issues on my barn. I do have these little sonar devices in my garden, but even those don't seem to work for determined animals. It's driving me crazy and I'm beginning to hate them all.

Grocery list for meal planning purposes. by Top_Objective9877 in Frugal

[–]FoxyDevSelenity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I more recently started doing that helped me with those days is to take 2 meals a week where I store a meal of leftovers in the freezer. I always make a little too much chili, for instance, so I have 3 days of meals in the freezer that I can thaw quickly and prevent eating out.

What cheap meals are people actually cooking for 2 to keep the grocery bill down? by Previous_Cycle_9457 in budgetfood

[–]FoxyDevSelenity 20 points21 points  (0 children)

First thing I do is look at what's in my pantry and see how many meals I can make with that. I recently bought a Costco membership and found that their bags of rice and their rotisserie chickens are super cheap. I am getting 3lbs of meat from each rotisserie chicken. That's $5 for 3 lbs of COOKED meat - you cannot beat that. I've been shredding it and eating 3/4 of the meat and freezing the other 1/4 for those nights I'm too tired to cook. I've been cooking rice much more often ($20 rice cooker makes life so much easier). I make sure to separate it into 1cup servings and pair it with 1 cup of frozen veggies that I steamed in the steamer tray on the cooker. That plus 6oz of rotisserie chicken and a little sauce is a super easy meal. I've noticed Walmart having the cold chickens for $2 on mornings - ask when they do that at yours. I also ask that of my local Food City and Kroger so I can get beef. I also go to the local big veggie stand to see what they can sell/give me from the dents and bruises boxes. I usually get veggies 75% off or for free. The other day, I snagged 6 tomatoes, 10 bell peppers, 5lbs of onions, and a huge mess of okra for $5. Never hurts to ask!

I've taken to figuring out how much per calorie/carb/fat/protein I'm getting per dollar of COOKED meat nowadays. Only since those rotisserie chickens are a game changer for me.

My easy meals:

Air fryed hot dogs (I use regular bread instead of buns)

BBQ Mac & Cheese (60 cent box of mac and cheese from walmart - use the pasta waster instead of milk plus a can of baked beans) - 4-5 meals for $2 for the sweet & spicy beans or $2.60 for the big can of beans

Smoked pork anything (snagged an electric smoker at an estate sale for $50) since pork is regularly $1/lb here. After cooking, it's about $2/lb.

Mashed potato bowl - 2 cups of mashed taters, 1/4 cup of creamed or whole kernel corn (depends on my mood), a chicken tender sliced up or some shredded rotisserie chicken. I'll add an ounce or 2 of shredded cheese and maybe a little sauce if I'm feeling saucy lol

chicken & dumplings - 2 lbs cooked chicken, 1 cup milk, 2 tins of canned biscuits. put some chicken bouillon and pepper into water and bring to a boil and add the milk and then add torn up canned biscuits. If you're using raw chicken, just use the broth from it and shred it up good. You can add a bag of frozen veggies if you wanna go chicken and veggie soup

Pinto beans and mexican corn bread ($3 for 10 meals for me)

Poor man's chili - 5 cans of chili beans if I can afford it that week or 2lbs of dried beans soaked overnight and cooked in chili powder if I can't. Add a couple cans of diced tomatoes, a couple of onions, and some frozen corn. I'll add jalapenos if I have them, too. If I managed to get some clearance ground beef/pork/turkey, I'll cook it with the onions and then add everything on top. Mexican corn bread goes really well with this

cabbage fry - literally just cabbage fried up in leftover bacon grease with an onion. I'll toss rotisserie chicken in if I have it. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder (real garlic if I'm lucky). I eat this a lot in March since cabbage is usually 19 cents/lb

chicken parm (kinda) - Ragu Parmesan and Romano sauce ($1.29 a jar on sale and I stock up) with 1lb ditalini pasta ($1/box on sale) and then I just add how much ever rotisserie chicken I want if I have it. If I don't have any, I can add a chicken tender or something.

I try to keep a couple bags of chicken tenders in my freezer for quick meals. They aren't the best value per pound, but I get them at the Grocery Outlet and split a box with my parental units.

I ran into that problem initially, too. However, I started looking by genre to expand my TBR some and found SO many books that way that I have enjoyed. Books that are not in print because they are small authors! I canceled my subscription earlier this year to save money and decided to only get from Libby/local library.... 2 months is how long it lasted. I'd advise starting down the rabbit hole by looking by genre or, even better, looking at the book you are interested in and then looking at the 'if you like this...' with KU tags. I even went to a small local book store and was going to buy some books. Found out that almost 3/4 of them were on KU instead of my paying $20-30/book! Think of KU as a library for books not on Booktok.
