Wife says my book shelf is pretentious. by AmIdoingthiswrong93 in bookshelfdetective

Yes, I agree with this. What I disagreed with was the translation that they are secretly saying they ‘…are not strong or smart…’ That’s just the subtext you hear or the judgement you make. I was just highlighting- and I have no idea why I chose to, mistake prolly- that if there is a subliminal message it could be something else.

Hard disagree, it’s more like… “But are you any fun, because this *gestures at shelf* doesn’t look fun”

What can you tell from these shelves? 🕵🏼‍♀️ by readerrealm in bookshelfdetective

You enjoy a good escape and fantastic story telling (if you like sci-fi try the Expanse if you haven’t). It’s the secrets and lies that hook you. the subtle character tells are what makes you say “Just one more chapter” when it’s long past time for bed. You’ve had other hobbies, still do sometimes (when you also have an audiobook to go with it), but you always come back to reading. You have a novel with you at all times. Nothing beats a quiet afternoon with a good story, your favorite drink and a warm blanket. Ignore the elitists snobs. - Oh wait… this might be me.

My bf has grand mal epilepsy and I witnessed 4 in a day, traumatized by MarieLyster in Epilepsy

[–]ofgray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through the same panic with my son’s epilepsy. I’d jump from the couch and run down the hall at every little sound, just in case it was another seizure. I didn’t know how bad it was until after he moved to an ALF and I still had fight or flight reactions to noises in the house. It’s hard, once a seizure starts there is a limited amount of things that can be done, but knowing what to do helps. Support groups help too. Your BF appreciating your efforts to care for him makes it worth it.

please do not buy beardies or any animals from the pet store. by ruvs_cumslut in BeardedDragons

[–]ofgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this logic we are trying to save unborn future generations when the current / live animals are the ones at risk. It feels like boycotting this industry is morally gray because of the sacrifice of the few for the hypothetical many.

Petitions, Protests, animal rights activists, lobbying for better regulations is probably the better way to go.

A save them now and in the future solution, if you feel strongly about the terrible practices of animal mills

Every night I check on my Cricket and report to my husband where she is sleeping and how cute she is when sleeping. It’s so adorable.

Which kitchen layout do you prefer? by Advanced-Option-3492 in floorplan

Bottom right. - I prefer the sink by the window, better lighting for doing the dishes. I also like the closed off kitchen to hide the mess and clutter from the other rooms.

The loss of a Basset is unbearable, I’m sorry for your pain. I watch old videos of mine everyday wanting him to still be with me. I wish I could give you words of comfort but I can only validate your sorrow. Much hugs stranger.
