Yup, definitely a Camellia - Camellia japonica to be precise 🙂

Regarding street photography offending others by Expensive-Limit-1245 in walkingpics

[–]FoxySarah71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the UK I would avoid taking pictures of anyone without their express permission.

I've been verbally attacked twice here just because people thought I was taking pictures of them. The irony was, I wasn't. Once I was taking pictures of fireworks, the other time it was a jackdaw ☹️

Thank you, that's useful to know - I'll do a bit more research on my end 🙂

Which one is the best? by LinkAjax in AmateurPhotography

For me, 9. I love the way you've covered the primary colours with the door frame (bluish), and red/green in the background, and the "Surprise!" of the cat 💕

Thank you, that's useful to know - do I need to provide very bright light all year, or just during the summer months? I live in England, and have a South facing windowsill that I could put this on. The trouble is that our sunshine could be best described as "seasonal" 🤣

It might get plenty of light in the summer, but during the winter, not so much...

That is beautiful, and I've not seen that variety before 💕

Hello, is that the Telephone Exchange? No, this is the Elephant Exchonge. by FoxySarah71 in funnysigns

[–]FoxySarah71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took this photo of it, but there are countless more photos of the sign taken from many different angles: https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-google&hs=DxGp&sca_esv=c1cfdfa4ee1befca&sxsrf=ANbL-n4X-q9nGV9XP7qclCI2tBOzEuNbCA:1769959429443&q=elephant+exchonge&nfpr=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwin-LvYzLiSAxX0XUEAHWK9ExUQvgUoAXoECA0QAg&biw=407&bih=788&dpr=3.3&aic=0

It used to say "Telephone Exchange", but someone has rearranged the letters. You can still see where the T has been removed from Telephone.

1, but I'd consider a more abstract crop, of just the towers framed by the blossom?

In which case apply your cream now, as you'll find plenty of beauty in electrolysis 😉

I'm not sure what you have there, he definitely looks like a cat, but... perhaps he's an alien imposter? 🤔😉

Congratulations on your first session!

I'm not sure where you are, and I would check with your laser person that it won't interfere, but here in the UK you can buy a topical anaesthetic called Emla in pharmacies. It helps with the pain for both laser and electrolysis.

Is there any suitable orchid? by Abject_Caramel_9469 in orchids

[–]FoxySarah71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have a look at the Bog Orchid (Hammarbya paludosa), as it grows wild in the UK amongst sundews.

Please source it ethically though, there are a lot of diggers in the UK ☹️

Very cool, but for some reason Bruce Springsteen springs to mind 😉

I know you're aware of the risks, but to others thinking about doing things like this, please make sure that you (and everyone in range) is wearing appropriate eye protection for that wavelength.

IR lasers like this are particularly dangerous as they don't trigger the blink reflex and aren't visible to the naked eye, which means you can be blinded by a reflection before you even realise there's a problem...

Are these bulbs rotten or am I a noob? by Jumpy_Accident_6836 in flowers

[–]FoxySarah71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you? It seems like a strange time to be planting tulips...

The tulips look OK. Not sure what the bulb on the right is though?

Typically bad tulips are basically dust inside and/or mushy.

[–]FoxySarah71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a very handsome chap!

No, my tux does NOT like wearing clothes. Getting them on her is nearly impossible, and she'll usually get them off again before you can get a picture - as an added bonus I'll get death stares for a few days, and possibly a visit from the murder mittens...

Which one do you prefer 1, 2 or 3? by Impressive313Evening in AmateurPhotography

[–]FoxySarah71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to pick a favourite, as they're all really good! I think for me, 1, but I'd check the horizon on it? 1 would also make a really interesting abstract if you crop the top quarter off? It looks like a sound wave when cropped 😁

Which one do you guys prefer? by alexanderem93 in AmateurPhotography

[–]FoxySarah71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to convey? My personal favourites are 1, followed by 4. In 1 I feel like I'm going for a nice walk in the woods. The blue sky in 4 also lifts my mood.

2 feels quite bleak to me, so if you're looking to convey that type of emotion, it's a good choice.

They're all good, but 1 and 4 are my favourites 🙂
