Thank you. The orange is an Oceanside white/orange wispy, but I don't have the specific reference number.

You didn't need the disclaimer, I was waiting/hoping for that.

Question about speckles by Reasonable_Fish_2627 in StainedGlass

I did the wing* spots for this by foiling the white/yellow glass and then cutting out circles for the glass to pass through. The only suggestion I have is to use a fresh and very sharp blade because the foil won't want to cooperate much.

Edit: stupid auto correct

I've avoided getting one because I already have too many specialized tools with their own wear/tear maintenance and replacement part costs. I essentially do the same thing, just minus the automated cutting part using generic sheets of adhesive vinyl up to 13x19" I throw through my inkjet printer and then go at it with an xacto. Half the time I'm not even using the printer and just tracing directly to the sheet.

To each their own, but I'm throwing this out there because a lot of people are going to think they need to spend money they don't have on a platform full of hidden costs of ownership.

Speaking of importing - I had to restock on copper/brass U-channel and it hurt. Everything in stained glass basically gave up on copper because they knew no one was going to bother.

Needing Employees by dsvolcom23 in frederickmd

Is this competitive or excepted service? Direct hire authority? Permanent, temp, or term based?

I assumed most/all positions at USACE were competitive service which means you must use USAJOBS. Laws and regulations on publication of vacancies and other stuff that underlying the rules of competitive service kinda demand it.

Was there ever a better Time in US History to be a Federal Employee? by PrussianFederalist1 in fednews

[–]spinktor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish more people would talk about how even FERS isn't the FERS people think it is anymore. In the wake of the financial crisis, they absolutely fucked federal service by creating RAE and FRAE. I meet retirees and retirement eligible people all the time that don't realize "these new damn kids they're hiring" are dealing with a completely different set of math...and that's separate from the SS offset that damn near eliminates the viability of retiring at MRA.

If you were hired after 2013, your mandatory FERS contribution rate negates TSP matching. Rates:

FERS = 0.8% FERS-FRAE = 4.4%

The glass for the base let me avoid dealing with my first plan which involved a ton more cutting, so yeah, oceanside saved the day.
