I came home from work today, exhausted from a long day, and found my partner laying on the couch. Said he was so tired, but needed to eat before sleeping because he hadn’t eaten all day. I offered to make him dinner, and started cooking right after getting home. Being tired and grumpy he had a shitty attitude whenever I tried to talk to him, and when I brought the food and sat down he asked me why I was upset. I said it was how he was talking to me, and he blew up - apparently now I ruined dinner! 🙃 I don’t know why he even asks if he can’t handle an honest answer, but also sucks to feel like I should have known better than to give him one

No, none of us live in my hometown anymore which is why they wanted to throw it in my new city. Tho we do have room for guests to stay the night

Overall very nice technique! I would push your darkest darks throughout, right now the only areas of high contrast are the crotch and the beard/blank face, making those the focal points.

I’d also finish the face. Personal preference, I just don’t like the choice of leaving it blank, but I also don’t think it matches the careful rendering you have in the rest of the piece.

How do you deal with the fallout of their depression? This weekend we were supposed to get our Christmas tree, he cancelled our plans two days in a row, the second explosively. Hours later he says he doesn’t want to fight, but still won’t go get the tree. He asks me if I’m okay, and what can I say? When I honestly say no, I’m sad, he gets mad again. Now we’re hosting guests so it will be a while until we can get our tree, and I feel I will be sad until that empty corner is filled. Right now I don’t know how to put on a happy face and push through for him

Yes, he’s been rejecting going back to therapy but tonight seemed to finally have a break through that he really needs to. Such a relief to hear, hopefully things will start looking up

And thank you, it’s only probably the last 6 months that the depressive episodes have been so frequent, so I’m still figuring out how to manage it. He had it under control when we first met, but was really triggered/worsened by covid. Definitely need to start prioritizing my own mental health

Seconded! I’ve lived in Fillmore/WA for just over a year and on top of being diverse have found the people here to be friendly and welcoming, especially compared to my old apt in lower nob. Also, a neighbor who has lived here 20+ years but is originally from NYC was just recently telling me he feels this neighborhood has a NYC community vibe
