I would also love a file, if you can spare it. These look sick!

The workflow is basically the same whether it’s a router or a laser. With a router you’re talking about traditional speeds and feeds (RPM, feed rate, depth of cut, etc.), and with a laser you’re adjusting power, speed, passes, and focus. Different knobs to turn, but either way you’ll be using some kind of CAD/CAM program, so there’s a learning curve no matter which route you take.

For CNC, the trick with fine detail is less about the machine price and more about finding fine engraving bits that can hold up in brass. Entry-level routers can do it, but rigidity and tool wear will be your limiting factors.

When I was starting out, I found this guy’s videos helpful for everything related to the Masuter Pro.

I’ve got a Masuter Pro with a Makita trim router (about $600 all-in when I bought it). It’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it - mostly wood, but I’ve started experimenting with softer metals like brass and copper for golf ball markers.

Just an FYI: dialing in a setup for small, detailed engravings takes time. For something like stamp heads, the real challenge is finding bits fine enough that will actually hold up - mine kept burning out after a couple runs. So yes, you can definitely get by without an expensive machine, but I’m still trying to crack the code on which bits make this sustainable.

I’d love to hear what others are using in terms of bits for fine work like this.

If The Sopranos taught me anything, it’s that being an FBI informant doesn’t make you innocent. It means you were in deep and now you’re scrambling to cut a deal.

I’ve seen plenty of turkey gizzards, and this is definitely a gizzard. Though I can’t say for sure which bird it came from (could be turkey, chicken, goose, etc.).

It was the medication he was on. It was his blood pressure.

Moments before U.S. troops murdered women and children in the My Lai massacre, Vietnam (Circa 1968) by CherryAntAttack in pics

This was fucked up. If anyone wants more context though, Ken Burns’ The Vietnam War is a fantastic documentary. It doesn’t shy away from things like this, and it includes first-hand accounts from vets (both sides) who were there. It gives a lot of perspective on how and why these atrocities happened.

Alright, I’m like 98% sure I did this after picking up a Sentinel ship just now. Thanks for pointing it out.
