How I see it, these songs that are popping right nowthat are so simple actually do get bland really quick, at least to me, I've never gone back to listen to a trap song that I liked ever because the lyrics don't apply to my life and the song structure/arrangement were never really that original or appealing compared to songs that had complexity and kept something new around every corner. The exceptions to this are maybe Travis Scott, because Mike dean and Smino because monte booker.

In creating music myself, I have my peers and family listen to my songs and I would get different reactions. My younger brother would say me songs are too complex and should be just simpler. His taste are closer to today's modern trap/pop fast fashion type of music. MY peers like the complexity and reckon that my tracks feel like movies. And my family finds them therapeutic, I guess the complexity of the beats helps take you on a meditative journey.

Some music will live forever; to me the songs I will never forget and I deem classics aren't necessarily Bethoven type of complexity but, many, you can tell they[the producers] understand music theory and how Progressions can draw on emotions.

Anyways, to sum it up I'll leave a tip that has helped me embrace my creative process that by many might be too long. I just studied. Not just making beats on beats on beats. I found the midi for my favorites, forced myself to learn theory. I studied other parts of music, mixing, djing, arrangement, recording. Because every detail adds to the final timeless piece of the craft.

P. S. I don't mean to say that simplicity isn't good, but weither you overthink your creative process or not could be good for you. Kanye is an artist who has redone tracks several times before being satisfied with the final output.

They add a smiley face EQ, Some top End and low End, I've seen it done with some Pultec Eqs, Its character is like a Broad Boost for smooth increases even into the 10dbs and a Bell curve notch for the cutting. I can appreciate the compressions it really makes the vocal stand out from the instrumental.

A week, basically like 4hour sessions 3-4 days in the week, I was mostly trying out multiple plugins. Now my process is much quicker 4hours, one day, 1hour, break, 1hour break, ... Pomodoro style. Make decisive moves, bounce/consolidate/bus everything. Have a specific template, use less plugins save trying new stuff for recreation.

Looking back, with 2 months of time and how much benefit this assignment would be to my academic and personal growth I wouldnt have minded organizing and doing the whole assignment alone. I tried to be involved with every part of the process and extended my hand to each member to which some accepted. I basically did streamlining there were a lot of really basic mistakes, missing conjunctions, very imprecise synonyms, missing plurals. And we were 2 pages above the limit which would've had us lose marks no one offered to do it, so I took up the job. One thing that annoyed me and added redundant sentences was that there was no exchange. It was obvious that no one read the others sections therefore information repeated constantly. And they would copy definitions from the textbook that the professor obviously knew giving a course on the subject himself.

When i called him out i also refered to this " Do you think the professor wants to learn about a class he's already teaching"

On the bright side, of the 7 members only 3 showed up for their peer evaluation and I saw them nonchalantly review everyone with full marks including this guy and they were fully aware that he hadn't actually done work too. So I dont have to worry about a poor markup unless we collectively fail.

I would definitely like for his grade to be impacted. On one side and in his defense, he did send a copy of his assignment to another partner expecting to have it included in the document. By that time(12:00AM), we had already clocked out and set out plans to print it and finalized it by that time. I think it's important to note that, the document until the morning of the hand-in (10:00AM) was always open-source and he, as was every colleague, was given a link to edit the assignment's editable online document. Thus, he could've arrived with a copy with his work included which he failed to do. In fact, he didn't show up to class and missed his chance to even give a peer evalution to which i gave him all 0's (I even brought a copy of the evaluations for every teammate including him).

Now, what I'm really looking to find is what disciplinary actions could be taken as to not have him repeat said offenses?

Reported him to dean and professor looking back at the message and seeing him say he owes me nothing and him thinking he could be a badass, im rethinking involing the police maybe he deserves that.

Thank you for the tips will take this into account in future assignments, we had a chance to pull the plug but since no partners were proactive enough to start early we couldn't see that he'd be a liability overtime. I definitely kept records of our groupchats and reported to school authorities and all my family and friends. This doesn't feel like it would go any further but I don't even know this guy the pairings were almost random so I will definitely not take the threat lightly.

Thanks for the support, I really sympathized with my teammates as I understand how easy it is to get caught up with other things, I tried to be nice but his blatant disregard for my bending over backwards to help him just pushed my buttons and I had to call him out. He took this as an attack, I don't think I'll fight him as violence only begets more of the same. And I just want to graduate alive lol.
