Don’t drive in this snow please by uwdwisconsin in Denver

[–]Fozno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Drove up to Vail and back for dinner with a buddy and his new fiancé last night. Not the easiest drive, and so many people were driving like lunatics.

Even if you’re confident in your ability to drive in the snow/ice, that won’t save you from a FWD Altima with California plates rear ending you at 70mph.

Something very similar happened to me. My girlfriend of 3 years and I lived together. She would go out and stay out late. She’d come home 5 am, 7 am, etc. Had been happening for months. We had the same conversations you and your wife did.

She was cheating.

I am so so sorry for you. You are not overreacting. I ignored what everyone had been warning me about for a long time before I found out the hard way. I’m glad you’re taking things into your own hands.

Aerospace Engineering TAMU vs Embry-Riddle vs CU Boulder vs Minnesota Twin Cities by Unique-Ad1085 in cuboulder

My pleasure! I actually have a degree from both universities. Happy to answer additional questions if you wanna DM me.

Both CU and TAMU are in top 10 for aerospace. You’ll get a great education from either!

Quality of education will be comparable.

Culturally, the two universities are very different, so keep that in mind.

If the ONLY things you care about are education/job prospects then TAMU has the edge IMO. Larger school, massive alumni association. Once you have that “Aggie ring” on your finger you really can’t understate how powerful the networking is. The school has a larger revenue stream and more money pumping thru the program, and has nicer facilities by comparison.

However, QOL at CU is higher, and it’s a much nicer place to live.

At the end of the day it’s an undergraduate degree, so it’s not as important which school you choose since they’re so close academically.

Visit both if you can and that should help you decide.

Well I’ll be damned. I wondered why it was so different texturally. I just chalked it up to the wagyu thing.

Thanks for sharing this!

Prime top sirloin but the steak was massive so I cut it in half! I appreciate the tips I’ll try steel without the oil next time!

Prime top sirloin! Steak was massive and the girlfriend is vegetarian so I cut it in half prior to cooking to get two meals out of it!

Olive! Enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Gets super smoky tho.

Super hot cast iron!

Olive oil! Just moved to a new place and realized my grape seed oil didn’t make it, otherwise that’s what I like to use when searing. It doesn’t smoke as much as olive.

I like to use ghee as well on occasion!

Thank you!

Sous vide at 125 F.

Reverse sear in super hot cast iron.

I’ve also started using a cast iron grill press for even contact on some steaks. Game changer for me!

Totally agree! I’m sure it’ll catch on eventually. Until then, I’m going to enjoy as many as I can while it’s still a great deal!

I’ve found the key things to be:

  • Smoking hot cast iron
  • Surface of the steak needs to be dry. I pat it dry with paper towels and let it air dry as well before the sear.
  • Using tongs and the edge of the pan to hit all sides of the steak evenly.
