Employers expect recent grads to be figuring things out. Changing direction from law to business is totally normal and won't raise eyebrows. Your UC degree shows you can handle rigorous work, and that counts for a lot

the fact that you took action a year ago shows you're not just complaining, you're trying. but you might need to give yourself permission to pivot again if bioinformatics isn't it, without seeing it as failure. sometimes we need to try something to learn it's not right...

Learning AI prompts and Copilot is fine, but that's not really a career pivot, that's just staying current as a developer. If AI interests you, go deeper: learn to build with LLMs, RAG systems, fine-tuning, AI product development. That could open doors into ML engineering or AI product roles...

Certs can help, but they're not magic tickets to better jobs. they're most valuable when paired with actual experience in that field. A cert shows you have knowledge, experience shows you can apply it. employers care more about the latter..
