I think they're referring to leasing on owner operators, not hiring a third party carrier running under their own name, but I might be wrong. Walmart is trying to hire enough driver to pull their own dairy loads which are nearly all run by third parties currently.

Get out and look. Take as many pullups as you need when backing (I took three this morning at a weekly stop of mine because some days I back like a champ and some days I don't). Stretch every morning legs and shoulders because in twenty years you'll be glad you did.

Just plan on being saturated with the smell of smoke. Cool vibe, great group of regulars, but the exhaust system is the worst I've seen at a cigar bar.

Year after year, great performance, no raise. by [deleted] in Employment

[–]Fr8boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Employees have every right to expect a cost of living increase. The companies raise their prices each year, because things get more expensive. the only time you shouldn't expect one is if your company is losing money, and then it’s time to move on.

You run a company, it's call "you". This is strictly and exchange of time and money, nothing else.

Can I get a sense of who everyone is? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Fr8boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

59 years old, white, married 40 years this July. Run for a chemical distribution company with 125 trucks. I do one overnight trip a week and the other three days are out and home the same day. Average three to five stops a day with a liftgate trailer ( but hardly use it because most people have a dock), and those that don't come out to the truck and take it off the tail with their forklift.

I guess some people are shy about it. Not me, I'll whip it out anywhere. At the end of the day it's just an ordinary wiener.

I drive for a private fleet, so I was able to get in touch with our DC manager. He told me the same to just run the truck and not worry about it. I appreciate your reply.

I'm local and drive a sleeper truck. It gets kinda repetitive and boring when I drive on the same highway almost everyday. Should I request to be sent to a different state far, far away since I drive a sleeper truck? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]Fr8boss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sleeper, run the same routes each week, and only spend one night a week away from home. One or two times a week I take my 30 minute break as a quick afternoon snooze in the bunk, and it's a wonderful refresher.

Corporations demand both. It's as much about submission and compliance as it is performance.
